How Do I Change My Recommended Tags?
I tend to buy a Humble Bundle most weeks - it's a charity thing, I don't pay any attention to what games I get, lol. The problem with this, though, is that it has biased my tags in ways I really don't want them to go. How can I change my recommended tags to stop Steam trying to sell me stuff I am really not interested in?

I'm not sure you can. The little blurb about the feature made it seem a lot more customizable than it appears to actually be... but maybe I just don't know how to use it yet.

Reading other posts, I think you are right. It seems that you can't. Well done Valve - that's really dumb.

Why the hell has the site to deceide for me?

I want to browse ALL games, even if that are genres I seldom play. You see - sometimes I buy an game in an genre I normally wont like, just because of there are exceptions that can have just that combination of things that appeal to me. If I only see "what I like" I never am able to see that pearl between the garbage, and can miss something I could like...

Seen in that light, the new system is certainly counter-productive...

I agree with you jclosed, I really dislike the new system. Not only don't I like targetted selling, but it's already using tags I absolutely hate!!

I'm ok with targeted selling, if it would work. Now my recommended tags are coop, multiplayer for whatever reason. I hate multiplayer and coop games, so your question stands, how do I remove or change my recommended tags.

Exact ssame issue - Humble Bundle Donator too.

Now Steam think I want every game ever made from every genre. I NEED to be able to delete wringly attributed tags as now using ASteam is like turning on the shopping channel on TV.

I just get rubbish I would never buy shoved in my face all day.

Using Steam is now a chore. I have stopped logging in of an evening now as I don't want to be bombarded with adverts and opinions from internet idiots labelled as "curators".

I am not 9 and don't need a sensationalist moron to tell me whats cool and what isn't. I can find out about games and form my own opinions.

ATM for me Steam is a broken mess for me and I wont be spedning any money on it until I can use it in peace again.

Click "For You" in menu.
Under "Tags recommended for you" select "Browse all recommended tags".
* Now you can see all tags picked for you by Steam, not just first five. *
Select "genre" and click "Browse all".
* Yay! You now have access to picking tags you want. *

It is so, because there are two layers of tags and Steam can't let you select secondary ones without picking main first
Yes, it is terrible design.

It is very bad indeed. Also, I have to say that I can't get it to work. I want to remove some recommended tags, but it doesn't seem to allow that. I did actually find some ticked things, and unticked them, but the reappeared as soon as I went back to the store.
I dunno, whatever, I have it disabled now. It's useless.

I want to be able to remove certain tags since my girlfriend has been playing huniepop on my account so now all steam recommends to me is dating sims since my top few tags are now nudity, anime, dating sims, etc. I want to be able to set it back to the good old days when steam would suggest RPGs and adventure games. Anything changed recently to allow that?

Suggests controller - I don't have one...

Won't suggest RTS even though it's my fav (plus, RTS is applied to non-RTS games like MOBA and tower defense).

Needs fixing.

I agree with all of you, the tag system also highly irritates me. Opening up my Steam frontpage is like walking through a massive kids toy store to buy the can of beers I'm interested in. It's all wasted on me and really just adds to my annoyance of Steam. In fact, I have started buying from GOG again, because of all this nonsense on Steam.

some of the tags dont even make sense
for some reason "female protagonist" is a tag
and while its true most of the games i play have female protags thats not the reason i play them
and shantae is listed as an "anime" tag
i mean i kind of see it but i really dont want all these other anime games in my recommendations

uggg this store tag system is so annoying, buy one game thats a clicker and suddenly every ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game in the Feature store has clicker as a tag. Would like to strangle the idiot that came up with useless crap
