How Do I Change My Recommended Tags?
I tend to buy a Humble Bundle most weeks - it's a charity thing, I don't pay any attention to what games I get, lol. The problem with this, though, is that it has biased my tags in ways I really don't want them to go. How can I change my recommended tags to stop Steam trying to sell me stuff I am really not interested in?

Both methods work if you want to see less of games with those tags than other tags, but I think they don't precisely solve the problem.

I imagine there are 3 tag priority levels in the store:
Recommended > Normal > "Filtered Out".
Am I right?

All the solutions that have been mentioned in this thread moves the tag from Recommended to "Filtered Out", not to Normal level.

Exactly. There are at least a couple of tags that I would like to change from "recommended" to "normal" because it's not that I don't want to see games with those tags, it's that I just don't want Steam prioritizing games with those tags.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.
This is why Steam should just let us tell Steam "hey, we like these tags, we don't like those tags".

A friend of mine bought a single certain waifu game. Now he can't get rid of the nudity and sexual content tags. Hell, he only bought it on a dare. Hilarious. Still feel bad for him, though.
Having Steam recommend games to you has always been stupid and will continue to be a means of last resort for relieving boredom.

"Tags to exclude" solves this.

For tags on the store page, I went to my preferences and put one of the tags they listed for me and put it in the excluded box. So far so good. It seems to be gone.

"Tags to exclude" solves this.

This only seems to work for mature content how do I exclude other tags from the list

Scroll down to...

TAGS TO EXCLUDE
Pick up to ten tags. Steam will then filter out games with those tags

the best you can probably do is request steam reset your marketing profile.

I see that alot of these comments are from 5+ years ago, and Steam still hasn't fixed anything. Accurate.

Old but Gold!

You go in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Tag you do not like!
Go through the new :SpRad_ThumbsUp:God-Level :SpRad_ThumbsUp: Discovery Queue!
Mark all the ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ you do not like!
Have a lot of ignored Adventure ♥♥♥♥ in your ignore list!
The Steam AI learns and you get less ♥♥♥♥ in your list!

Easy to do, better than the every day ♥♥♥♥-Que on the starting page!

Still ♥♥♥♥ AI, as if you look lots of Strategy and also ignore lots of the ♥♥♥♥ in Strategy, the algorithm thinks you like ♥♥♥♥ adventure cause you have "The Captain" in your Lib not knowing the Cap is between FTL and Monkey Island! One is new one is old and it is a mix of the best !

So you get a lot of ♥♥♥♥ like "Sally ...." (Sodomie Adventure) as your interest games !!!!! :steamfacepalm:

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
