How Do I Change My Recommended Tags?
I tend to buy a Humble Bundle most weeks - it's a charity thing, I don't pay any attention to what games I get, lol. The problem with this, though, is that it has biased my tags in ways I really don't want them to go. How can I change my recommended tags to stop Steam trying to sell me stuff I am really not interested in?

it's not dumb, you should only be buying games you want, give away the other games, your recommendations are based on your library, and for me, it's incredibly accurate.
Why can't Steam just let us tell it what tags we want to see?

for some reason "female protagonist" is a tag
and while its true most of the games i play have female protags thats not the reason i play them
and shantae is listed as an "anime" tag
i mean i kind of see it but i really dont want all these other anime games in my recommendations
I know that feel; just because I play TF2 Steam has recommended to me other FPS games, despite my generally having little interest in FPSes.

That said, in reply to that other commenter...how do you buy Huniepop "thinking it was another game"? You sorta have to go through a confirmation screen...

I have a friend that thinks its funny to send me $2 dollar anime games with nudity. Now all the games that come up are stupid as crap. I spent 30 minutes trying to find what to click on so i can remove these tags and get back to the games i enjoy. But steam thinks it knows me better then i know myself so i guess it won't be getting any money from me since it wants to recommend stupid ♥♥♥♥.

Why do redeem them without looking them up first?

"I keep forgetting what Huniepop is, so I load it up out of curiosity, and just because I then play it for 15 minutes periods, Steam thinks I like fapping games. I'm so angry that I accidentally bought Huniepop"

Hi all. GO TO "Your Store" tab.... "Your Queue" in your queue you can exclude tags from recommendations and IT DOES change your Store main page results. I just removed HORROR. I'm pumped. The end

family share it to another account and play it there. that will stop the algorithim from suggesting similar games.

Even so - Many would still like the ability to choose.

I give away all the games I don't desire, but when there are enough outliers in genres I normally avoid, they can become recommended, and have for me in the past.

For example, I don't usually like survival games; but during a period where I activated a few that happened to have that tag (despite not being very demanding on survival skills), I started having hardcore survival games waved in my face. Thankfully it's now corrected as of more recently purchases.

Yea, I play alot of Witcher and since there's a bit of nudity and sexual content, I keep getting other recommended games with such tags >.<

"a bit" don't understate it. it has 16 HOURS OF SEX SCENES. that's more than things like grisaia no kajitsu.

That tag would only be accurate to the player if they watch a lot of those scenes :cubewink:
Further reasoning to have manual selections of the tags.

I used to play Minecraft way before it released, but only for creative. But it's a survival game.

no you don't get to manually pick what tags apply, if they apply then they do. and that game has 16 hours of sex scenes. six.
teen
hours.

We know that we don't - that is why this thread exists.

Who's to say that we play every aspect of a game? Or that hours of a feature should count. I have 700 hours in GTAV, most of which was spent Online. But I don't like online games, and very rarely buy them.

Exactly, I spent the weekend trying to get into dota and gave up at the end, uninstalled it and today my steam queue is filled with free-to-play games. even though dota isn't the standard F2P (ie Pay to Win), it's only cosmetic transactions that don't affect gameplay. I never ever play F2P games that have non-cosmetic microtransactions. Now the system thinks I like these money grabbing pieces of craps :(
