Wanting to know more about gift trading/selling
So I've seen a few people selling gift copies for real money through paypal or something.
I personally trade steam gifts for TF2 keys and then sell the keys.
I've seen a bunch of forums where people have stated that selling "items that can't be traded" is NOT allowed.
Steam gifts can be traded through the chat window, So does this mean I can sell games for real money?

Some games I don't want to sell for a minimum of $2.50 (1 key).
For example, If I was selling a game for $3.50, I would lose profit if I sold it for one key and I would be ripping off the buyer if I sold it for two keys ($5).

I've been restricted by the government from getting a job, so my only way to make money is through the buying, trading and selling of steam goods.
I'm an honest person, I like to sell things at a fair price, sometimes even give away a few games for free to people, but I can't lower the price or I would be losing money that I need.
I could raise the price, but that wouldn't be very fair on my buyers.
If I don't want to do anything that will breach the steams TOS.

Before you suggest that I use other items than just TF2 keys....
  • Other Items have a very unstable market price, TF2 keys are fairly solid
  • I can sell TF2 keys to humans, Buyers for other items are fairly rare.
  • If the price of the said item was to change, there is a chance that I would be losing money from the number of trades I have done using these items.

For the people too lazy to read the above text, Summary of this topic is my asking of
Can I sell steam gifts for real money?

Thanks in advance,
Inu

Contact Steam Support first before taking any actions. They will respond fast and tell what you can do. Moderator's threads are for people's securities.

If you do trade for real money or a game code you do it at your own risk. Valve has no control over someone offering Paypal for a game and then disputing the charges leaving you with nothing.

That's the whole point of this thread. I don't want to do anything I shouldn't be doing.

If it does not fit directly in the trade window (not the chat portion obviously anyone can write anything) then it is not allowed under the official trade system and you will receive NO support should something go wrong.

Yes you can as you have the ability to. Just be aware that you will probably get ripped off unless you trust the buyer as it is easy to issue a paypal chargeback leaving you little to no recourse.

I know I have the ability to, but I want to know if I am allowed to.
I don't need to worry about chargebacks, I have an online business set up that can handle safe paypal transactions.
I'm worried about losing my number of valuable account and thousands of items.

Then yes there are many sites that sell 3rd party Steam keys and gifts. They may say they do not allow it but they do nothing to stop them.

I haven't seen a single website that sells steam gifts.
I know of sites like humblebundle or bundlestars along with ones like TF2 Shop. But those are a little different.

They are mostly contained within other sites as Steam key sites are much more popular and easier to facilitate.

I've plans to set up my 'store' on my website, but you've given me enough to get a basic idea of what's allowed and what's not.
Thanks a bunch :)
