new scam going around

another scam is going around where someone in your friends lists asks you to vote of a team on a tournament of sorts, and gives you a link. leads you to a site that looks legit and requests your steam account info. you physically are unable to vote and a warning comes up with "account modding try again in 24 hours to vote". at this point your steam account has been compromised and you will need to remove all devices form your account and make a new password. check and make sure that your email and number are your details are yours once logged in as well just to be safe

This scam is not new.

In fact, it is so old that there is already a support page for it.

Very nice of you, but be careful with strangers. It's usually never good when a random person that you have never seen before starts to offer you things, opportunities, or even threaten you into doing something. It's always good to ask someone else before you do something you might regret. Be cautious out there!

Right and since you didn't know about the scam before despite there being already a support article about it means, that others won't find it either before it's too late.

That's why we have lots of threads similar to your's almost every day.

PSA's like this don't work.

If you had been SEARCHING this very foruim then you'd have seen all the other 5.4*10^36424266544534 threads about this particular scam...

And that would be the punchline of these topics. Each time they're created the intension is to inform others which is fine however not effective in the slightest since as you can see you yourself have skipped over those other topics.

i had gone through 10PAGES OF DISCUSSIONS AND THIS SCAM DID NOT COME UP AT ALL. PLEASE STOP BASHING SOMEONE WHO WAS TRYING TO TO THE RIGHTTHING

You only had to search for what the scam is about and fastillions of threads would have popped up, you don't have to scroll thru pages if you simply used the search feature from the forum.

And no, that was no bashing but a hint / giving information.

Don't be so sensitive.

On top of here https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/ we can all read:

"Searching is key! Use the forum search function before posting a question to see if the topic has already been covered."

And that was the only reason why i mentioned searching would have been best.
