If Zelda was officially going to be ported onto PC, would it perform well?
As of now, they are only IPs exclusive to Nintendo. Let's say a publisher who has authorization by Nintendo themselves to publish their IPs on platforms like steam, what would be the required specs to run Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom?

A halfway decent native PC port of Breath of the Wild would probably run even with a mid-range APU. Most budget laptops could probably handle it just fine on medium settings. A good gaming PC would absolutely man-handle it on maximum, 4k with a high FPS, no problem.

Well the first game ran on WiiU hardware so any mid range computer from 2012 should suffice.

Nintendo is the publisher. They won't do it because they make bank on their own services.

:nkCool:
If Nintendo were to launch Zelda games on Steam. And, this is speculation, but they would have to do it with no fanfare. Just a total surprise, or it could go wrong. They would defeat it by the knowledge of it beforehand.

If they were to do that though, just, bang, Zelda shows up on the Steam store.

It would literally sell to basically everybody.

I know we're still discussing 'what if', but Nintendo once said they wouldn't release a mobile game. Then they made Super Mario Run and Miitomo as sort of a test. They did well enough that they ended up following up with an additional 20 mobile titles since 2016, so it's possible at least.

Now imagine if Nintendo released some small or old game "just as a test" on Steam. I think just the fact that it's a Nintendo title on PC would attract massive attention and it would sell bucketloads. That would probably open the flood gates for additional Nintendo games to enter the PC space officially. Probably not their newer stuff, because...

But I could see a few unique or legacy Nintendo titles finding a home on PC, or at least I can dream.

I've said it before, Nintendo will never put their games on any type of PC platform, because they want you to spend those big bucks on a Switch or Switch 2.
AirDrifter Apr 15 @ 11:14pm
Considering they where on a 2017 Switch, I'd say the Specs are gonna be very minimal.

That being said, Nintendo would be the last company to ever do that. They'd never want to have a percentage going to a different company over there games. It'd make them a lot of money without a doubt but it would make people question why they even need a Switch anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did well, very well in fact.

But knowing Nintendo they would find some way to screw it up.

They would probably stick it on their own launcher rather then Steam and/or GOG, and probably throw so much DRM on it, that it would barely run on most peoples computers.

Logic and Nintendo, are two entirely different concepts that don't mix.

I would buy Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword HD, and Tears of the Kingdom on day 1, despite already owning all 3.

But Nintendo is too greedy to ever do that. They were even convicted of illegal price fixing previously.

Aye, more people get to play Zelda, and they no longer can act like Nintendo can do no wrong because people will directly criticise them for defending a multi billion yen corporation.

Not going to lie, that sounds just as fun as playing Zelda on PC (in an official capacity😉)
Nintendo would probably troll people and release the Zelda CD-I games on PC.....

They'd also charge them full price

You would be surprised. That game has its fans and already has a spiritual successor on Steam.

Zelda, Mario, and a couple other IP, are the only thing keeping Nintendo competitive. If they were not exclusive, Nintendo's consoles would not be profitable.
