I feel partly responsible, because I too sometimes post links to Steam, so that people know where they can download something in case they don't know, and I do want those people to be safe and secure when they are browsing the website, or when they try to play a game. It's partly my responsibility, if I link them to the Steam website, and I expect them to be safe.
I've seen cases of "false positives," but I've never seen this happen before. If it wasn't a false positive, it needs to be taken proper care of. And any disadvantaged customers should also be taken proper care of as well I suppose.
There's not much to research when it's a brand new game.
It's true, you can't even find the game anymore because Valve removed it.
Which is different than what happened. Glad that it's cleared up.
Well do you need that game immediately on release? just wait a bit
No one needs it, but the fact is a lot of people play games on day 1. Besides, it's not your responsibility to do some research before downloading anything. If it's on Steam, people assume it's safe because they trust Steam...
So are you going to Epic Games then?
Are they mutually exclusive?
I guess we should all stop using the internet then since there are viruses/malware/scammers on it, which obviously means the internet can't be trusted.
Hi, are you D.Flame on another account, because you're pulling the same tactic as he does. When did I ever say that? Because I didn't. I said, "If you download a game and don't let your antimalware program do its thing, if you end up downloading a keylogger. That's on you." I even stated Windows Defender, which is a thing that even runs on my computer even though I prefer malwarebytes myself for scanning specific folders and files.
Basically, if you don't do the bare basics of cybersecurity(Let the antivirus you have actually do its thing and check links to make sure that they're legit and not just something like Nlntendo), the only person to blame is you.
I've downloaded hundreds of games, hundreds of programs... and not once since I stopped Pirating things back after I left high school... have I ever had a problem with malware. Which by the way.. was 18 years ago. So if I can have 0 issues with malware for the past 18 years, despite the fact that I've made enemies that would love to gain access to things like my accounts. Never been hacked, never been phished, never got malware.
