I will limit my list to games I've actually played which is going to exclude a lot, as I'm not big on the f2p market.
LoL
Hex (best card game, followed by Hearthstone)
Tera (mmo pickings are rather slim imo, so this being on top doesn't say much)
Path of Exile
Hmmm...I think that's about it that I can think of off the top of my head. I've tried numerous others, but these few have kept my interest for longer periods of time, while things like Archeage, Vindictus, Planetside 2, were quickly put on the 'shelf'.
Elsword
In MMO genre it's Hero Online - Tera
Whatever you do, stay away from Clicker Heroes. You have been warned.
1. Planetside --- FPS/MMO features some truly epic battles. Well worth the price (free).
2. Tera --- if you're into MMORPG pvp, this game has some of the best animations and skil-chaining in the genre, and if you're into pve, it's rife with stuff to do. Easily the best ftp mmo that I know of-- certainly better than Archage -- and you can enjoy without spending penny. And it features scantily clad totally hot female characters for your inner perv.
3. Neverwinter--- has some unique features, like player-created quests, and solid pvp, lots of pve, but definitely deserving to be number 3 on this list, not 1 or 2.
4. Rift
5. Unturned--- what little time i've spent in the game was weirdly immersive and I bet it would be awesome in VR. Even though I probably won't have spent more than 2 hours on this game when I'm done, I can't help but think it's worth recommending.
Here some more for S&G's:
Everquest: log in to the first ever truly MMORPG title just to see how it all started.
Startrek online: Because Star Trek.
Lord of the Rings Online: Because hobbits.
NON STEAM FTP:
Age of Wushu, baby. It's EXCELLENT. If you want a totally unique MMORPG that is nothing like anything else you've played, but has some of the best pvp in the world, at times more brutal and intense than Eve, then here's your game. It commanded a full two years of my life.
