How much money does it cost to reach level 100 on steam? I search last days a lot of users who have big level and I just wondering how much money did they pay for that level...

What does playing a video game (unless that is your full time job) get you in life?

But what does actually playing games have to do with a community-based profile level?

10 x 100 =1000x $ for the summer cards and you can figure how much its from there approx.

I'm nearly there, roughly $175 US so far.

I could trade for the cards and get them at no cost, but that would take weeks of my time.

If I spend that same amount of time earning cash money, I can earn far more than the value of what I would be saving on trading cards in that same timeframe, so yeah.

I pay and then use that time to earn money instead of wasting valuable hours away trading for penny cards.

Why do I do it? Because I like doing it. I collect a lot of stuff that many would say is pointless, but many shouldn't worry so much about what I'm doing with my time / money. :UniversalLove:

I been on steam for 12 years on and I find the steam level system the biggest waste of time. What does steam level mean, it just means you have spend alot of money on cards or buying lots of games.

Some gamers believe steam level means your a better player or your account is worth more than someone elses account with an lower level score. If I could, I wish I could get all my cards back I cashed in for leveling and sell them instead.

Depends which badges you level up because some cards are cheaper than others.
I know it took me about $95 to go from 100 to 120 buying cheapest badges that were available and that I haven't leveled up yet. Also got a little XP from the Summer Badges too.

Yes it's mostly status thing but done right I believe. If we could level up from completing games or achievements, it would just be cheated and skewed out of proportion. Also, I trust Steam users more if they level 50+ for example over someone who is level 8. Not to mention all the profile additions we get and extra friend slots make it worth it too. Impersonation is an issue with popular gamers/collectors and higher level can help set them apart easier.

It's the other way around man.

Even that people think about getting a higher steam level is proving that they need a job and some friends. My level on steam is the last thing I would care about in my entire life....If one day I should not be able to walk anymore and I would be a multi-millionaire, I probably would start leveling my steam profile just to have a laugh about all those noobs who actually care about it.

This is most definitely one of the best, if not the best, reason to level up your account. You yourself isn't as easy to impersonate [by scammers] (especially with the showcases that you got, if past level 10) if your friends are familiar with at least your profile level.

EDIT: Apologies for digressing from the main topic, but you can't just stress this point enough, I believe, with all the people getting scammed these days.

I believe users trust can be mis-guided by steam level. So if someones account is 6 months old with only two games but is level 40, do you trust that account more than mine which is only level 23 but has over 300+ games and is nearly 12 years old.

It's like reading a post similar to "What's the point of having a large gamer score in XBOX platforms?" or "Why a collector collects those bottle caps?"

...or "What's the point of leveling up in an MMO game that will go bankrupt 2-4yrs time?"

Levels are cosmetic features. Sure, the higher the level the higher the chance of earning card drops and some sort of respect, but I wouldn't worry about it or scrutinize the benefit of thereof.

hence, just enjoy your levels and be done with it.

1- Exp needed for level up increases by 100 per every 10 level you get.
2- You can craft a game's badge 5 times and 1 foil.
3- Every badge gives you 100xp (unless something special)
4- You start with level 0 and 100 exp needed.
So if we guess from 3 usd per 5 badge,
I suppose you should be getting around 110x5 badges
That should make around 330usd. Not sure if i calculated wrong. But should be around that.
5- Don't forget the badge prices vary, one badge might cost you 100 usd too so you have to calculate it by checking the market.
That's all i can help.

Here's a guide that shows exactly what XP is needed for each level. (Level 100 = 55,000 XP)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=457523080

This is commonly posted but if you haven't seen it, use it for buying cards http://steam.tools/cards/ Click Set Price and you should see CS:GO at the top as the cheapest badge and so forth.

What you're saying is not wrong but it can go both ways. I've witnessed recently VAC/game banned users this year with older accounts from 2007 or later. It's all comes down to a judgement call really. Some will go off game count, friend count, or featured badge as well.
