Steam family: Can i buy/play dlc if i dont have the base game?
much like the title, im in a steam family where ive played a base game. i really liked it and wanted to buy and play the dlc, but i do NOT own the base game. is it possibile?

Not for your account, no. You need to own the main game yourself to buy DLC for it for your account.
You CAN buy the DLC as a gift for a Steam Family member that owns the game, then its available to your via sharing just like the main game.

You can not purchase DLC for a game you do not own, no.

You can gift the DLC to the person who owns the game and you can play their game+DLC.

I dont know a single game where the main game is shareable but not the paid DLC.

That's generally true, but it's always better to check and make sure.

Go on Steamdb and search for the main game. Then on the left there's the DLCs tab. Click on that and select the DLC with the matching ID. To check that, enable the search bar on the steam app and it'll show you the ID. If you're on browser you should already see that.
After you've selected the DLC go to the Metadata tab. If you DON'T see the string "Exclude from family sharing (exfgls)" then it means it can be shared within the family.
