Custom Animated Profile Pictures
Why doesn't Valve just implement this feature for it's users? I'm sure it would be easy since it's already patched in, and they could charge us EXTRA points for our own custom pfps

Because moderating videos is exponentially harder than moderating still images.

Valve has already implemented a feature for such a thing. It's actually pretty strict too and not lenient on skin. I'm sure you've already seen it with profile gifs and whatever

Valve manually reviews every points shop item. They don't allow you to upload a game for worthless points, so why would any other feature afforded to actual game developers be made available for points?

"so why would any other feature afforded to actual game developers be made available for points?"

I think you're forgetting a very important detail and that is the fact that the point shop does not award developers in any way shape or form. Valve has already implement a system where you can invest your points for profile upgrades, like allowing more images displayed or games shown. This argument you're making is objectively incorrect.

Exactly. Points aren't worth anything. Valve can't fund moderators using points. Valve can't increase the size of the business team from what would support a hundred thousand developers to what would be required for a billion accounts using points.

"Exactly. Points aren't worth anything" - So then why the ♥♥♥♥ did you make this point in the first place? I don't get weather you're trying to make an honest discussion or jumping between ideas without an inherit second of critical thinking. You're all over the place man.

"Valve can't fund moderators using points" - Refer to my posts I've made above.

"Valve can't increase the size of the business team from what would support a hundred thousand developers" - I have no idea what the hell you're blabbering about and I'll just assume it's the same argument you've made previously, "iT hELpS THe dEVeLoPErS!". Refer to my posts I've made above.

"would be required for a billion accounts using points" - Refer to my posts above.

I'll say it once and never again since having a discussion with you seems like I'm talking to a deaf ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brick wall but here it goes:

Valve has ALREADY implemented various systems of moderation in regards to inappropriate or scandalous material shown on their platform. This can be seen in various profiles, artworks uploaded, screenshots, guides, etc...

Valve will quite literally lose nothing and gain everything by doing this, as it's already a requirement for someone to spend 30$ on their platform in order to get a fancy new profile picture. If they were to say, raise this specific feature to 5k steam points, they'd massively increase revenue sales.

It wont happen, just to save you some typing.

People would just troll with their avatars if they did.
If you want to upload items to the points shop, make a game, put it on Steam, and then after you do that, you can do so for free. They'll even give you a free copy of your game's points shop items.
