The delisting of Japanese games has really gotta stop.
I don't know who at Steam is so worked up over VNs and dating sims, but the amount of games that I've wishlisted and suddenly they appear as delisted is getting annoying. LoveR Kiss, a dating sim that's literally just that, is banned on Steam yet Nintendo has no problems with it. I really doubt it's payment processors this time because I keep seeing AI generated NSFW slop front and center on the store page.

I'm talking about visual novels

Visual novels that contain inappropriate things involving middle schoolers and underage children are going to face issue on steam. Console releases of said games are often censored while they try to push the uncensored version on Steam.
Steam does not need any of this garbage in my opinion..

How many times are these threads gonna happen. I've seen this same exact line of threads three times, and im far from active here. Steams moderation company, whoever they hired, despises the style of storytelling common in japanese, and especially younger japanese, romance. I swear theyd probably ban the experience me and inexperienced you(yes that is an anime title, and its one of the most wholesome romance stories ive seen).

Are you suggesting Chaos Head, Gnosia, and the ace attourney trilogy are shovelwere? The guys who crammed the GBA console to its limit and constantly tested cartridge optimization are shovelware? really? Come on man be reasonable.

I recall in a Steam news post when they first opened the floodgates with self publishing, they mentioned that they had decided not to be the gatekeepers of what is and is not allowed on Steam. (Within reasonable and legal boundaries of course.) They specifically mentioned visual novels as an example. People at Valve don't really care for them, and many were surprised at how popular visual novels turned out to be on Steam. Some Steam users only play visual novels, with libraries full of nothing but visual novels.

That's a tall order for some folks.

The decision over what is listed on the Store is not handled by 3rd party moderation.

You all know this isn't because Steam hate the Japanese right? They like money like any other company. No, this is more the work of Master Card and Visa and it starts with the games you don't like but will nab all the games "they" don't like. There's a global push for censorship and sanitization, do be distracted fighting each other cause your favorite franchise likely isn't too far behind if this keeps up.
Also just cause you don't like the genre, adult material or not, visual novels ain't exactly shovel ware. You just don't have an eye for it. One could argue COD is shovel ware these days, and a lot less free and creative than some VN's out there

I want my wifoo porn damn it.
Porn. Not Japanese games.

Dark Souls is a Japanese game.

The stuff being pulled down from the store is porn. Not a game.

telltale games and then new dispatch game are visual novels with quick time events and steam goes to bat for them 1000%

Dark Souls is about as Japanese as Apple pie is American lmfao. When I think Japanese, I think Katamari, Lollipop Chainsaw, Dragon Quest, or Ninja Gaiden. Let’s not kid ourselves here, buddy.
