does the launcher do anything to make ANCIENT game work with a modern PC? do you mean i have to make an ancient PC like windows 7 to have any luck to get ANCIENT game to work ?
https://www.gog.com/forum
second
depends on the game
most will work out of the box
some will need some tweaks and patches
some may not
Sometimes you may need to follow the games Wiki page for essential fixes and unofficial updates https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Max_Payne
Max Payne works really well with the complete fix pack.
The GOG Preservation Program ensures classic games remain playable on modern systems, even after their developers stopped supporting them. By maintaining these iconic titles, GOG helps you protect and relive the memories that shaped you, DRM-free and with dedicated tech support.
- works perfectly fine straight out of the box (except had to roll back the last update, shift key not work properly, known issue mentioned in discussions..)
As others have said here - usually will but, if on GOG or Steam look at reviews or discussions before buying. Someone will most likely mention any potential issues and fixes for them, such as patches or settings.
Having finished Max Payne here myself, I did have some control issues in certain sections that changing settings fixed (find in discussions). The game is worth the relatively minor tweaking I had to do.
