Looking for an RTS game like C&C Generals and Act of War

Like the title says, I'm looking for an RTS game like Command and Conquer Generals, which plays in our current time or the close future and also has base building. I know that there are some RTS games on Steam, but most of them are either Sci- Fi or WW2 and I'm a bit tired of the Sci- Fi setting.

i would say supreme commander its a bit sci fi but awesome.
command and conquer red alert is a good RTS and itsnt sci-fi.
age of empires is another good one.

Yeah, Red Alert could be a good possibility. I remember playing that as a kid ^^
I always thought Age of Empires is setted in the past. Is there a game with a more modern setting I missed?
