Which are the best/must-have PC ports from console games?
I see that it's extremely common to have good classics being finally ported to Steam, only to see the ports completely butchering the experience.

Which ports would you recommend as being 1:1 experiences? Any and all consoles are encouraged, as well as pretty much every genre.

Radiant Silvergun is a good port of the Saturn game and isn't expensive.
I don't know a single console port worth talking about...
Does it have to be 1:1, or can it be better? The Batman Arkham series, for example, is better on a PC. Same goes for Horizon Zero Dawn (albeit only slightly better). The one port I'm thinking of which is absolutely-and-totally 1:1 would be Katamari.
I think, that No More Heroes 3 had pretty decent port. Problem is, for the story to make any sense, you have to know all previous games (including Travis Strikes Again). And ports of both 1 and 2 is... Problematic at times.

A great PC port which was kinda miraculous because the original PS4 version had some major issues at launch. Game can be got for 75% off in the sale so it's definitely worth a look when discounted too.
Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas. I had fun realism modding this thing back in 2007. Can it be called a console port?

Oh, of course. I prefer original, intended experiences the most as far as first playthroughs are concerned, but it's also nice to have remasters and such (as long as it's just a graphical/technical update and everything stays the same). Superior ports/versions with added content are better suited for later replays IMO.

Well, now that it's been taken out of the Steam store, not anymore... =/

Please explain how Arkham Asylum on a PC is worse for a first playthrough, than on a console. Please explain how Horizon Zero Dawn on a PC is worse for a first playthrough, than on a console. I'm not talking about remasters! This thread is about ports, I said "ports", how on earth did you read "remasters" into that?

I'm a little apprehensive but I'll mention halo. I guess because its not a exactly a 1:1 port, there are some very minor new glitches and some very small QoL changes and a different social system altogether. For a new player none of these things would matter though. But yeah the master chief collection is a decent example of a classic gem that was dying and is now safely preserved in mostly classic form. And a lot of the PC exclusive settings for the game got added to the old console version later down the line to make them as close as possible.
There's really no such thing like a "must have" games: you buy the game you want to play.

A lot of the console ports are just taking the game and porting it over. Judging by reviews, some companies are even notorious for having not-particularly-good keyboard/mouse support.
