This. And what do you mean by Indie? Low budget or published by the developer not a publishing house?

My recommendation would be (w/o knowing the above):

Sword of the Stars: The Pit (Rogue-a-like) cheap in the sale. Has 3 dlcs that just provides 100s+ hours of play.

The "Trine" games should still be on sale with a good discount. Same with "Closure".

"One Finger Death Punch" is frequently seen a surprisingly good casual game. It's "only" on -50%, though.

I have't finished "Psychonauts" yet, but... it's been a surprisingly good game. Again, the current discount is "only" -66%.

"Dust: An Elysian Tail" is on -66% too.

Looking for bullethell game that I haven't gotten very far yet 'cause it's hard-as-hell? "Sine Mora" is on -80%.

Generally, recommending stuff without knowing you is next to impossible, and recommending stuff outside the sales and bundles even more since there's just too many games.

If you want a solid indie game that will last you about an hour but will leave an impression much longer, play "Dear Esther".
