Its random as as there are millions of people on steam the chances are very very very small
I am guessing the chances are very slim due to the amount of people on each team. Also do not forget there are a lot of people spending money on it. -Heol

slim but just because your team wins the day doenst mean you are up for the games you personally must contribute points that day and your team must win that same to to be in the lottery.
Seems like it's basically winning the lottery.
Seems pretty random but I'm more curious on why the last few days one team has a 3x lead on the rest which are all even.
so everyone can get a turn at the hope of a win which gets more sales as people will spend $$ to stay in the lead or try to catch up. its just a sales gimmick.

Apparently reddit is organizing a push for different teams on different days, which leads to a positive feedback loop for the winning team, which leads to them crafting more badges, and a negative one for the losing teams, who save their badges. The others are large, randomly chosen teams under similar conditions, so they can be expected to perform similarly due to the law of large numbers.

It's been planned by the teams, the team that is supposed to win that day goes all out while the others do their every day crafting, not trying to actively generate points.
There are 75mil steam users 75000000 : 5 teams = 15mil people in 1 team. From 1 team only 30 people get the top 3 games on their wishlist.
30 :15000000 = 0,000002*100 =0,0002% chance per player of getting the games.
The only winner here is Valve.

A great deal of registered users are not on a team, and some people on each team do not contribute with points each day, so that is not correct. Needless to say, though, chances are extremely slim.

^ ofc its not a realistic number but it proves a point.
its a slim chance yes but i dont see why people complain about it there giving out 90 free games a day just because its such a small chance its something there doing extra stop acting like they owe you something
The same as the odds of blue team not winning since they are the next color up

He did the math
he did the monster math
the monster math
it was a graveyard graph

Seriously though, the contest is basically rigged. Only people winning is valve, and the few lucky ones who get their 3 free games....even though the money they put into the cards may be equal or more to their games in total.
