Steam sale: Which games to go for?

I'm having a hard time choosing from the various steam sale games. It seems like most of them are the same games that are on sale 10 times throughout the year, and most of them don't seem appealing to me.

I'm looking for something that offers online multiplayer (not MMO), has an interesting or unique graphic style, and has some replay value.

Any suggestions, oh great steam community?

Looks like you don't have Tomb Raider yet, though I'm not sure if that falls under the category of the games you don't find appealing. Single player was great, amazing story and gameplay. Graphical style was dark and gritty for the most part with vibrant environments when appropriate (oceanfront beaches for example). I haven't tried the multiplayer myself yet but have heard good things.

I actually just looked at that one. Terraria was fun. I really enjoyed Starbound, but my friends who also had the game didn't stick around, and single player got stale rather quickly. =)

Anyone give the early-access game "Project Zomboid" a try? I love 7 days to die, and PZ seems like a fun alternative to waste time with.

I have Tomb Raider. It's just not through steam. It was fun, but I just couldn't find myself ever really wanting to play it. The same with the new Thief. I was looking forward to it, but after just a little gameplay I put it down and never looked back.

Battlefield 4 is my go-to multiplayer game. I had Titanfall over the weekend through Origin's promotion (48 hours to play for free). I was really hoping that the new sale games (as of an hour-ish ago) would have presented an easy choice. Sadly that was not the case.

Borderlands 2 has really nice coop if you play with friends. It has replayability value although it does use an mmo-style loot system where your weapon finds are pretty random. Left 4 dead (2) is a great coop shooter aswell. Then there is Age of Empires 3 which still has people playing online (RTS).

I have Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Age of Empires 2 HD/3. I've been playing AoE since 2 came out haha.

I've been playing Castle Crashers on 360 for many, many years now. I picked up Battleblock yesterday. Played it for an hour or so, but got pretty bored after that. It just doesn't carry the same play value as Castle Crashers in my opinion.

You might enjoy king arthur's gold since you liked terraria and starbound. The multiplayer CTF mode is fun.

borderlands 2 goty is massive play value for the money
