As far as Dayz just depends who you ask. I have a few friends that love it but say that there is allot of downtime that can get boring, and some people think it's a buggy mess. Look up some gameplay and see if it looks fun to you, that's really the best way to decide.
Full Mojo Rampage, it's real fun, a bit easier than The Binding of Isaac, includes a leveling system, nice graphics and music.
-Rythm-musical
Beat Hazard, its a space shoot'em'up that plays similar to asteroids, but generates enemies according to the music. Enemies and your lasers shoot also following the rythm. Real fun, supports almost any kind of music files mp3, ogg, wav, whatever.
Kickbeat is a beat'em'up, better played with a controller. I enjoy this one a lot, but it's more limited if you want to use your own music.
-Platforms / Action
Super House of Dead Ninjas, man if this one came at the 16 bit era it sure would be known as a classic. Random generated levels, a ton of unlockables, challenging but not too much.
They Bleed Pixels is a very much harder game, demanding very precise jumps mixed with hand-to-hand combat. Still i like this one a lot!
-Action RPG
Torchlight 1 and 2 are great, the first one feels a lot like the original Diablo (many of the creators of Diablo worked on this 2, including music composer). There are lots of mods for both, the 2nd has Steam Workshop so it's very easy to install them. Graphics are nice but don't expect Diablo 3 level. I like Character development on the 2nd one a lot, there are many posibilities.
-Oldschool FPS
Serious Sam 3 and Painkiller HD: Hordes and Hordes and Hordes of enemies! just like the original Doom!
-Modern FPS
Shadow Warrior combines a leveling system, sword combat done right and interesting level design. Plus, Lo Wang ( not as funny as the original).
Take a look at those and if you don't like them, let me know and i'll try some more recomendations.
