only need 8gb ram, put the savings into another component or your pocket

get an i5 & try to stretch for a k model processor

get the best graphic card you can afford, I'd recommend 750ti at least.

But essentially you have a good list.

Ideally would also bump the PSU to 600W~650W.

Consider a Coolermaster Hyper212, an excellent cheap investment.

would Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz be good? also already have 750 Ti on the list
DarkGaming2020 Jun 6, 2014 @ 8:16pm
i would say get I5 instead of I3. Ram looks good, graphics card is good. go for the second one lad.

Geat, i think its what im going for, its considerably cheap at $953
DarkGaming2020 Jun 6, 2014 @ 8:49pm

-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card
-Corsair/Seasonic 650 Watt PSU
-1 TB WD Black Drive
-120/240 GB SATA III SSD
-G.SKILL Ripjaws X Serie 8 GB DDR 1600
-ASRock H81M-HDS Motherboard
-Intel Core i5-4670K

The bigger PSU lets you overclock the processor and upgrade your GPU without power concerns. 16gb of memory is dumb. You will not use that for a long time and in that time it will cost less to get another 8gbs. SSD will outperform any mechanical HD. A K series process is unlocked allowing you to overclock and avoid having to upgrade for years. You will need an after market cooler when you start overclocking.

power supply will rarely limit cpu/gpu overclocking

with the 750ti, its a very low power card, and will have lots of room to overclock the cpu (if its a k ver)

with the non k cpu, its difficult ot overclock it
750ti will have some room, but still a 65w card

tx3 is fine for an intel non k cpu
its cheap, quiet, and better than the stock cooler

pick a quality power supply
400+w will be enough for that build
cx430 is often on sale for $40 shipped and $20 rebate
xfx550 was around $50 shipped and $15 rebate

do not go by the wattage label alone, many lie
look up reviews, if you cant find any, or they fail basic testing, do not get it

I wouldn't pick a power supply solely on overclocking, however, i wouldn't buy the cheapest psu you can find. You get what you pay for. especially with cheap low end psu's.

The same goes with hard drive. When I saw "Generic 2TB HD" I first thought that maybe "generic" was the brand name. dont spend your money on crappy parts. You can get good hard drives for a low price as long as you are willing to settle for a lower performing hd.

If he replaces the low power 750 TI with a higher wattage GPU in a few years, his PSU have declined in peak wattage performance at the same time he needs more. The whole stickin' point of building yourself is the capacity to upgrade later. A 650 watt gives plenty of room to grow as long as you don't go dual GPU.

a quality 550-600w will last for years and still allow for any single gpu in the future
