After that contact Steam support and let them know you got phished, they may possibly reverse the transaction but from what I hear they've gotten tired of fixing this kind of stuff and pretty much put the responsibility on the users to keep their computers and login info safe. Worth a shot though.
I've scanned my pc and changed my password. But I truly don't believe this was a hack/phishing event. I've many security protocols for all my accounts in place, and I have money left in my wallet, and many other things make me believe that this is some kind of other error. But I've changed it anyway, for that is a definite possibility. So now i'll wait for Steam for a response.
Thanks again!
have u ever shared your steam account with someone else
have u ever shared the email address that you use with steam with someone else
what other machines have u enabled to use steam
are those machine secure in your possession
are u using 3rd party steam enhancement or sites that u used ur steam login with
if one of those sites has bug or someone hacks those sites then u r exposed since how will valve know that bot purchase was not u
check your email there should be details of the purchase.
If you really have any type of virus in your computer then it doesn't make any sense to change password on that computer if that virus might be still in there. Some viruses cannot be detected even with really good Antiviruses. I would suggest making clean install of new operating system and then change passwords.
Hi, thanks for your reply!
Yes, I have steam guard enabled.
No, I've never ever shared my account with anyone.
No, I've never logged onto another device with my steam account (except after this incident when I couldn't go through steam support via my own pc - kept on restarting).
No, I'm the only user of my email address. I also have double security on my email account.
I don't use any 3rd party related steam logins (don't know if Uplay counts).
I've checked my email right after "purchase". There was a receipt or confirmation of purchase there of the Trove Carafe. Is there any other information I should get from the receipt?
Thanks again, I appreciate any assistance in this matter!
Thank you, I will do so.
I did scan twice (one deep scan), and I also scanned twice for Malware. Nothing found. But I will do a complete reinstall as well.
All market transactions are final. It's your responsibility to keep your account secure so nobody else can use it.
Is the item in your inventory?
How many others are there on the market at that price?
Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)
If someone has access to your account they may list a cheap item at a high price and then use your account to buy it from their other account.
I'm not saying this has been done but it is possible.
Same thing happened to me too .
Did you get your money back again?
