I can't see what the dev can do about it, if Steam itself does that to his game.
Steam doesn't give you a virus warning. The anti-virus software does.
I was wondering if it is a Windows thing happening under the hood. People are not reporting anything about any particular virus checker.
Does the steam desktop client reuse 3rd party browser tech to download files and things? For example, is it a desktop app with a browser control inside it that just displays the websites?
I have directed people here to try and get some community support. Please keep the thread open, because it will make a big mess if you close it or lock it
You should remove McAfee altogether.

I don't use McAfee myself and if I was sold a computer with it on I would uninstall it, but as I said somewhere else, my parents in their 80s love it.
Sorry McAfee, you have the option of making your software more gamer friendly.
The KeeperRL engine was created from scratch by the developer (the source is on Github). They should really be able to figure out what part of their own code is looking suspicious to anti-virus software and work out how to resolve it.
Uploading the affected exe or dll to virustotal.com might give a useful binary profile, providing clues about where the problem lies.
