As long as you have Steam Guard enabled and your email password is different to your Steam account password, it is unlikely that this person can/or be bothered to get into your account. Be extra diligent and check for viruses as well as malware and use a different computer when changing passwords for email/account etc. Be wary of messages asking you to click links or download files.

Thankfully, I got steamguard activated, some hacker from the same IP address as Reyjdesigns tried to breach my account. Even though, I decided not to change my password, yes, they already know my password, and perhaps they will be able to hack my other account in several websites, they can do anything, I just don't care, I don't need them ( my accounts anymore ), as long as I have secured my e-mail password, they won't be able to do anything, anyway, I don't have much money, what can they steal ? lol.

Dear davidchenx,

Are you logging into the Steam client from a new computer? Here’s the Steam Guard code you’ll need to complete the process:
#####

If you haven’t recently tried to login to the Steam client… from the computer located at

213.152.162.141 (NL),

someone else may be trying to access your account. You can view more info about this login attempt online.
If you suspect someone else may be attempting to access your account, please either:
Change your password immediately or
Lock your account online and then request Support assistance to regain access to your account.
Thanks for helping us maintain the security of your account.

But I will tell you this, Steam. That was bad, a very very bad security breach, even though they did no damage to me, but this should never happened to such company like steam. Now I have to reconsider more than twice to buy your stuffs in the future.

How do you know this is Valve's fault? For all we know, the passwords could have been brute forced. If their security was really breached, credit cards would have been stolen instead of login info.

There's also no such thing as foolproof security. As long as it's connected to the internet, it can be hacked. I assure you that anywhere you buy your games from can be hacked.

Use Authenticator? :)

So, does steam have a feature that lets someone try thousands of password attempts?
And this person also needs to know the username?
And then the email name and its password as well?

Thats like 3 times unlikely to happen. Ehm, no, 4 times.

Lately people got fake emails, they changed their steam email and still magically got login attempt emails to the old email. What proves it to be fake

Just got another email from steam saying someone again tried to hack my account...
This email was generated because of a login attempt from a computer located at 5.101.222.212 (QA). The login attempt included your correct account name and password.

This is getting ridiculous...

If you keep getting them then obviously your Steam password must be easily guessable for them to even get to the attempted login attempt part

You're doing something wrong if that keeps coming up. Make a better password and nuke your computer from orbit. I have a sneaking suspicion your password problem isn't solely an external issue.

It is highly possible that your system is compromised. Get to another PC, change your password there.

If the emails stop after this, clean your PC you may have a keylogger on your system installed.
