Do you really think Valve has employees trying to get giftcards from people on Discord? What kinda business model is that for a multi-billion dollar business?

Do you think if a Valve employee was scamming people on discord they'd clearly identify themselves in a move that could only be described as, "Please fire me Valve."

Since neither one of the above is terribly likely, what are you left with? A scammer who's got the ability to lie, socially engineer unsuspecting users, and the ability to link to Valve employee accounts (which anyone can do).

Valve do not operate on Discord and there is nobody in an admin capacity on the Steam platform. Read about this scam and more in the FAQ https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/70E6-991B-233B-A37B and make sure your brother reads it to.

Except you can absolutely report people on Discord. If you're trying to be smart you should at least be correct about it. No, there is no dedicated button to do so, but that's what Mods are for. You can speak to them.

Also imagine admins of things needed to talk to and to convince every user before things could be fixed. Especially if there is a "timer ticking demanding to hurry".
Let alone, needing users to "insert money here" so that "procedures" can work.

Thats just a thing in the fantastic nonsense world of scams.
