Looking for some cool retro games like old snes games
Hi,
I loved playing games like zelda, castlevania or terranigma.
Or something like the classic snes harvest Moon would be cool.
Anything simmilar on steam?

Hope you can recommend me something cool :-)

Great to see someone else around these parts with some of the same graphical tastes as myself. :feena:

The closest game I can think of to Zelda is Anodyne, but you already have that.

The closest games I can think of to the castletroid Castlevania are Bloodstained (in development), the Shantae games (you only seem to have one so I guess there's the rest of those), Guacamelee (which doesn't look retro but is a metroidvania platformer), Mystik Belle (which you already have), and a number of other metroidvania games ilke Aquaria.

The closest game I can think of to the classicvania Castlevanias is Mutant Mudds, with its slow-paced but very deliberate and high-precision platforming. It's arguably a smoother experience than the classicvanias.

As for Terranigma, nothing completely quite like it, but there are various action RPGs on Steam, most notably the Ys games. Most of them (Origin, Oath, and Ark) have a more updated feel to them graphically -- like GameCube-era 3D. Ys I & II look 16-bit though. They're all excellent games though, regardless of how they look. And I also thought of Eternal Senia, which is a beautiful game and is entirely free.

So here are some suggestions that I've played before:

Hold on, revising my picks based on what you already own...

I noticed you already own Mystik Belle. Well that dev also has a game called Ultionus. It's very different gameplay-wise though.

Also, here's a great suggestion, but it isn't on Steam, but it's freeware as well -- very high-quality work that I'd compare to Cave Story:

Treasure Adventure Game[robitgames.com]

You can get it on GOG.

Don't let the generic title fool you. It actually has a meaningful plot. It just doesn't show you everything at first glance. One could say it makes you work to discover the true meaning of its treasure :P

And here's a few more that I haven't played yet, so I don't know how good they are:

(same dev as Mutant Mudds)

(this one requires a controller, unless you want to use unrebindable wonky keyboard controls)

River City Girls is an awesome beat'em up that looks and sounds like a SNES game:

+1 to Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara.
Very often old games are badly ported. But this game is good.
