Celebrating Games Made in Victoria, Australia... brought to you by Germans. What?!!
Went to the steam group for this event and the admins have German flags. There was one aussie member I saw and a dutch guy. 2 german admins. No admins with Australian flags.

Seriously what is going on. They have a long list of games implied to be Australian made but the Aussie devs aren't part of the group. I'm starting to feel this is some sort of scam somehow.

I think, that the OP is disappointed that the group's administrators belong to nationalities other than Australian, while an Australian-themed event should have at least one.

AFAIK its against the Law not only in Australia but around the world regarding the use of German Flags. This feels seriously like another scam uprising please becareful contact the right authorities. Maybe Steam Support but since no flags are on Steam nothing to do about it.
Check out this Aussie Steam Games, I watch it for any good games.

Against the law depends on WHAT German flags .... I mean the current one is fine, but if we talk the real '33-45 flags yea that's an issue. I mean some clarification WHAT German flag would be nice

Here is the event. At the bottom there is a link to the Steam group.

Here is the Steam group
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/MIGW

There is one Australian account in the admins but that is the MIGW account rather than a users players account. There are 2 Australian members of the group and one of them is specifically from Sydney rather than Melbourne. Soon it might be 3 Australians if they accept my request to join. It seems strange that there are Europeans in the group at all let alone as admins. Maybe they meant Austria? :D

It also seems strange that there are so many games listed and the event has been going for many years but there are only 8 members altogether.
Victoria Australia does have a strong computer arts industry. If you look at the credits for most Marvel movies you will seem the Victoria logo. It just feels like the industry is unaware of this Steam group run by Germans for many years.
Is it possible Steam gives them a kickback for games sold during this event?

Amount of members, or their flags, of a group are meaningless metrics for such things. The organisation behind it is what's important. You dismiss that MIGW account a little bit, but that might actually be the one and only important member of that group and that all the others are just users who joined the group like you're attempting.

And no, Valve gives nobody "kickbacks".

If 2 out of the 3 other admins for the group are Germans then it makes me wonder if the MIGW group account is held by locals or Germans. I might have to keep an eye out for other localised events and see if they are also run by the same admins.

Ah, prefers to go into conspiracy theory territory.

Good luck with that, I'll check the stock prices for aluminium.

I'm just laying out the facts and stating my doubts about the authenticity of the group.

Well, I checked those links and in my opinion all those accounts are buisness-connected. Either someone from developers team who was chosen as a representative of the studio, professional Event/Festival Manager, Head of Portfolio etc.

There is no randomness here, more like careful planning who we need to organize this and for what we need them.

Aside from MIGW, 3-4 accounts are associated with Australian video game devs.
