Come to think of it, I think Eden Eternal had WASD movement too, but I can't remember for sure. Been a while since I played it.
Haha, I'm not even sure why I'm hanging out in this thread. I've played very few MMOs and don't have much interest in the genre...but I do definitely like learning more about game design things like control schemes.
Yeah black desert online is really good. I bought one of the packs so i am playing beta right now.
You should just find something temporary though. There's also Albion online. Its really good too.
Guild wars 2 takes a diffrent type of mmo player. But there our a a few new MMOs coming out this year.
You can move the camera with the mouse.
Auto attack is only for your basic attack everything else you need to press a keyboard key to use and has a cool down so that it cant be spammed.
also the majority of things you buy with real money are cosmetic other than buffs which you can get in game also. There is no piece of gear that you buy with real money that makes you better than anyone else.
The only thing you need to pay 4 is the expansions which every MMO charges you for except maybe warframe
Man, this guy must've rolled a Necromancer, 'cause this thread is OLD.
Anyways, man, this brings back some memories. Two years ago, I would have recommended Vindictus - a non-open world MMO that was rather small scale in terms of size, but amazing in terms of the action. Fantastic combat system, almost every character is melee yet they all have widely distinct attack styles, great dodge/counter mechanics, and a skill cap high enough that you could solo max-level bosses meant for 8 people (though it would often take the full hour you were alloted). It was often compared to Monster Hunter in terms of gameplay.
Nowadays, they unfortunately embraced pay 2 win. Used to be, max enhanced gear was neither common nor necessary, but somewhere along the line they made a push to buff highly enhanced gear while unenhanced didn't go anywhere. Bosses got easier, players got more health, and the luck based loot system started relying more on rare mega drops rather than a steady farming system, so you never knew if you were running in place or just a fight away from making it rich. And forget PvP; you do not know imbalanced PvP until you've played Vindictus, never mind ghost range and lag.
Still, it's the only MMO where I got to stand in front of a dragon's insta-kill move and supplex it. It's a free MMO, so you can check it out if you feel like it.
there is a free trial version of it, otherwise full game is 12.99 a month
You don't have to pay for expansions in Runescape either. Though there is a monthly membership you can get.

Theres so much to do in this game its insane, theres always tons of events, you can follow the main storyline or do your own thing. Ride horses, camels even elephants, sail boats or ships, go fishing, kill stuff, theres even a few things u can do while afk.
No subscription, very fun to play.
Steam says i've played 4,521.8 hrs on record and thats from Jan 30th this year (when my brother got me addicted to it).
Ofc thats not all actual playtime, a lot is from afk fishing, u can make money by selling/ trading fish.
