PUBG bloatware
Hi,
I recently bought PUBG (and refunded). Noticed my chrome homepage changed to some russian ad page (i`m from Ukraine). Game was mediocre so I`ve deleted it anyway, BUT, remains such as some services and battleye stayed on my pc, so the ad virus. Only with cleaning apps + hand cleaning I`ve deleted it all. How is that allowed on steam? (Mail.ru is the PUBG publisher in Russia)

UPD: Malwarebytes detected some mail ru files and cleaned them, + Iv`e cleaned some old chrome plugins and the problem is gone.
But you still have to delete some folders in C:\Program Files\Common Files, C:\Program Files)x86)\Common Files, ProgramData and AppData
BattlEye, TslGame etc

I'm guessing you contracted some spyware, potentially by sideloading/downloading PUBG software from unknown sources.

Hm. Usually only pirate releases acting like this. You think PUBG installer did this with your PC?

Yup, some users said that this site "Exinariuminix.info (it`s an ad site that was in my scheduled autorun)" came with the windows update. But for me it was the day I`ve installed pubg. No other software was installed that day.

Could this be caused by chrome plugin? But i`m still angry about the huge leftovers like services and folders.

If you check here https://steamdb.info/app/578080/depots/ you can see that PUBG has only two depots and none of it is region specific, so all Steam users get the same files i suppose and there would be more people complaining about that?

Possible.

Ty, but it`s weird anyway.

I don't know how the mail.ru published game is shipped or if it contains such adware like browser startpage hijacker etc. but i know from ICQ messenger in the past that mail.ru was pretty aggressive when it comes to shipping ads with it.

you likely logged into a pubg scam website

BattleEye will remain as it's a separate service (you can uninstall manually) but what you are experiencing is spyware or adware of sorts completely unrelated to the game itself but likely down to your own activity on your device.
