Should I play Black Mesa or the original Half-Life?

Hey guys, I've never played a Half-Life game before but I've been wanting to get into it lately. So should I start with Black Mesa, or the original Half-Life?

I'd just go with Black Mesa.

They did a very good job and you won't be missing on a whole lot by skipping the OG tbh.

If you want a more authentic experience, I would recommend the OG Half-Life. However, if you're looking for something more modern, I think Black Mesa or even MMod are great choices. Either way, I hope you have a fun time.

Yes, why not? If you are interested in the genre, you should do your history studies. There were only a few dozen 3D shooters back at that time. You could play them all. It's not impossible, because there were only a few dozen. There weren't hundreds of 3D shooters back at the day. Only a bunch. But more than two.
Considering there were only several, and not hundreds or thousands, you may just as well play them all.

But then again, I am not sure what you are trying to get out of it, or are trying to do with it.
Obviously, you should already know what you want to do, and have a plan, otherwise you may just as well do nothing.

If the older graphics don't bother you then the original is still a masterpiece (don't use the Source updated port, get the original original) and you will still get a fresh and mindblowing experience from Black Mesa afterwards.

Otherwise playing just Black Mesa is a great experience on it's own.
