people who say games don't make you smarter makes me laugh tbh
we got puzzles games, multiplayer games and singleplayer games.

coop and multiplayer even comp games help with social skills and prediction with also the ability to adept fast in different environments.

puzzle games to help with memory and thinking to solve problems.

singleplayer games can range from learning to be efficient or relaxing to help will life so you can think more clearly if you are in a stress full state.

games have made me smart, it is more engaging and way better than sitting and turning my brain off watching anime or tv/movies.

like watching something is like looking at a script with visuals and books make you imagine thinks and learn new words but you still just looking at something and not actually controlling or being evolved in the content

like its really what games you play and how you choose to enjoy them tbh. you can play a boss game like dark souls and not learn anything and just push luck and then you got those people who learn the bosses and excel in timing and predictions which can help with a job in marketing knowing when to strike and want people would want aka selling ice cream on a hot day compared to winter.

there is so much to learn in gaming yet people want to choose game make people violent even tho idk what games can even make you violent? as long as you just enjoy it and not take it personally there is no issues and thats more of a irl thing than a game.

If there's something to learn from it, that = helps you get smarter. The people who say "games don't make you smart" are non gamers. Many things can make you smart/help you get smarter.

100% agree that games CAN make you smarter, just depends what you play. Anything based in real history can teach you about the history of man. Futuristic games expose people to theoretical scientific concepts.

I highly doubt anyone playing COD has learned anything except a plethora of new expletives.

But they don't NEED to.

Gaming should not be defended beyond what it is, a form of entertainment. And while entertainment CAN be educational it doesn't NEED to. It just needs to be entertaining.

Deluding oneself “here” is key to what?

There was a Nintendo DS game that was popular for a minute, and its claim was that it could help memory and intelligence. This turned out to be false, and the conclusion was that there were no cognitive or skill improvements derived from playing the game other than getting better at playing that particular game.

So one anecdote is all you need to disprove an entire theory? Wow.

First Of All, Games Don't Effect Your Brain, Alter, Or Change Your Brain...

All They Do, Is Help Nudge & Improve What Is Already There...

Sooo If You Have Mental Illness,
Doom, Or Far Cry 5, or Postal
might topal you over with causing
harm onto someone else...

But that is because you were already
in a state where you would seek to
do that anyways from the Start...

But if say you were not a Mental Illness
case, a game like Doom, won't actually
cause you to get violent with anyone at all...

Then there is the fact that you discuss the
topic of making you smarter??

Again, it won't make you smarter,
it's just gonna improve, nudge, & help
what is already there...

Such as you already understand the
basics of Math, how it works, & enough
about Math that a Video Game is just
improving your brain on the Subject,
by such as taking Geometry into looking
at it from different perspectives, &
actually figuring out how to use it
differently in your environments...

This same thing can be applied to
Movies, Media, & other stuff...

That is why this wokeness & Woke Video Games,
are not effecting us People... It's cause we are far
more capable of handling it then you might think
we are...

For instance??

We've been surrounded around Negative Atmosphere
for 4 to 8 Years now, nothing, but toxic Negativity...

Yet, all we do is support wanting to be friends,
wanting to do good in the world, & don't do what
this toxic negative atmosphere is doing to us...

I get this same crap from at home...

Soooo, it's pretty simple that I can figure
out how to handle & manage it already...

No matter how hard it's shoved down our throats,
all we wanna do is be left alone...

400 or so BAN's on my Account, & not once,
did I exact a revenge BAN on anyone...

Why you might ask??

Because clearly the People who are causing
this kind of trouble just don't get it...

And my response to them is, you just
need a new hobby, cause the current
one ain't workin out, ~_~

I Don't Know If Any Of That Makes Sense To Some People, Or Not??

But it's the same statement that People have had,
where they have stated that Video Games do not
drive Violence, murders, & killings...

I mean i've seen sooo much blood & death
in Video Games & Movies, that I practically
see it in my sleep, & i'm surrounded around
negativity all the time, both Online &
at my own house, & in Public...

Yet, i've never actually had this need,
nor want to have anyone harmed...

On STEAM all i've done is defend People from toxic behavior... ~_~
--- Never suggesting that it was ever good to have

And If 4 To 8 Years isn't proof that i'm telling the Truth,
then you should take a good look at what People
are willing to go through to prove me wrong??

And see what the Riots are doing in America right now??
--- This is all driven likely to prove how we are the problem
--- Yet, we haven't done anything
--- And the only thing People have proven, is how wrong they are, Instead
--- And refusing to give up, they have completely destroyed themselves
--- And we are entirely un-touched by their destruction

Have anyone actually noticed this??

I think people would be lying if they said gaming in general doesn't make people smarter. There are games that nurture the brain out there.

It don't make me laugh, though. I just pity them and move on.

Is it weird that I learned geography from playing Hearts of Iron 4?

Strategies are almost like chess - highly intelligent games.
