I am done with this DEI/SBI discussions

So active from today, I decided to block myself from the discussion boards. I have way of doing this. I am getting sick and tired of every game that gets released and falls under the radar of 'DEI/ SBI' flag.

Since recently the topic started to heat up about a game Eiyuden Chronicles : hundred man. Because for some reason the translation into japanese didn't match up with the western translation.

Well, from where I sit at. There is a culture difference between western society / japanese.

From that end, I got totally fed up with all the discussions surrounding it, so I decided to start blocking ports so I could actively not see them, nor discuss with it.

But this does raise the question though. If you Steam, are willing to have these things to continue (and I remember a thing happening with a game that wasn't even released yet) and you keep this trend from happening... and you are not willing to take a stand for it.

Maybe it is time we do it for you.

I hereby state I will not contribute on your forums until you solve this piece of the puzzle.

I know, a lot of people do not care about the issue, but I do.

I got to know a lot of good people out there, and let it be an outage for the time being, it will do some pain on my part. But I have to do what I must. Making an official statement, just to have a discussion about it. While I have to do what is right.

So so long people, this was a fun journey for now. I will see you on the other side of things.

Because I am at a point of getting tired of things on the internet as of lately, and it needs to be stopped somehow.

Where did he say it was simple translation difference. He said that it was up to cultural differences between Japan and the west.

And this SBI/DEI thing is just another new drama in the long list of it that makes me pine for the days of Jack Thompson. At least he was entertaining...

Honestly as someone taking Japanese lessons, I would love for someone to do a 1:1 translation from Japanese to English so that I can watch people get enraged because it wasn't "properly" translated, when it is, it's just that Nihongo has a different cadence and structure from English.

For example, in English, you would say, "He's a cool person!"

In Nihongo, you would say it "かっこいい ひと です" or Kakoii hito desu. Or in english Cool Person He's.

Personally I really enjoy seeing so many people take stand against the racism and anti-white hatred that has infested gaming as I find racism revolting but if it upsets you then I think you are making a good choice to remove yourself from it, it’s important we all take a break from the internet sometimes.

That inherently isn't the problem most of us have with the whole thing. If it was just standing up against any form of racism, it'd be one thing. It's the treating it as if this dragon isn't slain, the sun is going to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ explode and kill us all.

It's the fact that woke has become synonymous with, "Everything I don't like." If I want to dye my hair dark green, that's my choice. That doesn't make me woke. But in today's culture war, that makes me a wokie in the eyes of people... even though in reality it had nothing to do with, "I want to be a speshul snowflake" and everything to do with, "I wanted to have green hair".

The culture war has gotten so muddled and so inflammatory that context is dead, shock horror is worthless, reading comprehension no longer exists... and one of the most popular games of our age is a game where a yandere has a crush on her brother and is willing to engage in incest with him after resorting to cannibalism and crap.

Hell, one of my favorite CRPGs, Baldur's Gate... the original would be called woke because you can play the game as a woman... who might not be white. Or even human. And even have a party of nothing but women even before EE came around if you played your cards right(Imoen, Safana, Viconia, Faldorn, Alora, Branwen. and Skie Silvershield all require nothing except keeping your reputation in the right spot that they don't leave... and that's very generous).

That and then there's just such a thing as 'lazy/bad/cringe translation.
Really I just ignore the DEI/SBI crap since that just involves the drama in the kitchen. My concern is what's on the plate in front of me and how it tastes. Not the style of the sous chefs moustache.

Crappy translations have been around as long as games have needed translations.

How about: "Duff McWhalen"

DEI has become sort of a boogey man and as such people see it everywhere. Games can't be 'vbad' anymore it always has to be because of 'DEI' and the 'Woke agenda'/

OP. You do. You don't want to slodh around the Culture wars mudpit. That's great. Sensible decision. And there's plenty of discourse to be had that doesn't concern it.


Just observe the rule that the minute the term WOke, and DEI, or such start coming up. Tap out.

The first step to any iintellectual discourse is understanding what the otherside means when they say a word. and brutha let me tell you when you actually try to figure what Woke means you're left with a definituion that more or less means "Stuff that does not align with my preferred ideology'
