Always online grind games?
Hello.

I like games that require you to be always online such as Need For Speed 2015 because that means the grind is worth something. For example, in Deep Rock Galactic you can literally download a savegame from the internet and instantly be level 9 million something with everything unlocked which basically means if you play the game for real, there is nothing to strive for, no real grind.

For the same reason I don't play Payback, Heat, Unbound because you can use a savegame and eliminate the entire grind. You can do the same in Wreckfest, I believe many people use that level 100 savegame from the internet and why shouldn't they. It's the developers fault for making progress savegame based and not saving it on their server like NFS 2015. (These pesky people hating on "always online" for NFS 2015 are just left behind stone age people, I have absolutely no problems with the connection and neither does anyone else. Go waste 1000s of hours on Heat or Unbound where anyone can skip the entire grind by downloading a file lol.)

Does anyone know any always online games of any genre where you can unlock stuff or get level ups, ranks or inventory? These are the ones that I know of:

- Guild Wars 2
- EverQuest Project 1999
- Old School RuneScape
- Tibia
- NFS 2015
- NFS World SBRW
- TF2
- CS2
- Dota 2
- TrackMania United Forever
- Foxhole
- Tower Unite
- A.V.A Global
- PlanetSide 2
- BattleBit Remastered
- Verdun / Tannenberg / Isonzo
- HALO Master Chief Collection

Does anyone know any more such games where the grind is fun and worth doing? If you can just use a savegame then it's a pointless grind. Imagine spending 2000 hours on a multiplayer like DRG and your friend downloads a savegame and has more unlocked than your personal savefile.

Maybe for some of you who wasted their lives playing singleplayer games hunting for useless achievements it's hard to understand, but I don't see the point in playing a game that doesn't give me any progress at all.

For the same reason I don't play any singleplayer games anymore, because not only are they boring, you can just watch the entire game on YouTube so what's the point. It's not like devs have any good singleplayer game stories / ideas anymore, it's all heavily worn out, that's why most people play online games. (evidence: God of War, Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry)

I'm simply looking for more games where you play the game and it feels rewarding by giving you higher ranks or more inventory wealth because that is exactly what's fun to me. I think many people like Old School RuneScape for this reason but I'm looking for something a little more engaging and fun.

So you want games with both significant available grind and server-side saves?

Yes precisely.
I must say I quite enjoyed the NFS 2015 grind to level 70 but I can't finish those prestige races, they are ultra hard even for me. Still looking for someone to race me in free roam with every car ingame so I can get 100% collectibles done. It was one of the most fun grinds I had in a game, that grind to level 70.
:theplayboy: Sorry, I cannot offer any specific suggestions; I haven’t touched anything which fits your needs in recent memory. Good hunting, though!

Grind is unbearable, i even gave up playing it.
This post made me really really sad.

Yes. When you start thinking like you do then what's the point? Maybe you should consider stopping playing PC games altogether. Problem solved.

Or maybe, just maybe, don't use those so called cheats savegames and play games for your own personal enjoyment. You know... For fun.

It is not like losers using those cheats remove or reduce your own experience or bragging rights in any way, shape or form.

Why would you work a life 9-5 if you have a filled in lottery ticket in your house for $5 million? It's like those people who do achievements on Steam are torturing themselves when they can just use SAM to get rid of this useless struggle. Noone really likes collecting achievements but they are worth at least something on PlayStation because there's no hack to unlock them. Are you just unwilling to admit achievements are one of the worst gaming inventions? They're not fun just like those games only centered on getting achievements.

Or why would I play Deep Rock Galactic or Wreckfest when there's nothing worth of obtaining? It's like I'm racing in Wreckfest but there's nothing to win because I'm already max level and own everything with that savegame. I can race for fun but we all know I would just crash into other players cars then because that's more fun. I think some people don't realize how boring the games are that they play, at least I get progression in my games.
I'm just not scared to use the fastest, easiest way to get what I want. If I can skip investing a 1000 hours into Wreckfest by just downloading a file, I will skip.

Applying completely borked logic don't automagically change anything buddy. People work because they can't get a winning lottery ticket, not the other way around. Same thing for the games: people don't use cheats because they can't or it would destroy the very reason why they would play the game in the first place.

You are overthinking everything, turning everything into badly negative circular logic and nothing good will ever come out of it unless you stop.
I get what you mean op, but it's personal progression like reading a book and ticking it off your list. If you don't enjoy them it's fine, but ultimately it's the same thing in the end. You can watch all of those games on youtube and see the content likely, so it's like an even faster cheat where I get to see the content faster than you can earn it or cheat it, and don't waste my time grinding for it, buying the game, etc...

I do think always online or live service games are a little interesting though, there is a sense of feeling like you made progress in online, as opposed to something like death strandings ranked components where you're playing against a bunch of cheaters and you get bumped off, then you feel like your efforts were ultimately worthless.

Did you forget about World of Warcraft? It's the #1 in this genre.
I thought it was overtaken by final fantasy 14
