The craziest thing was how when they announced CS skin update back in 2013, they made a ::wink wink:: statement about it being used for the blackmarket.

Valve is smart. The trouble is, when you think you're the smartest guy in the room, you tend to become evil.

Listen, when it comes to being a parent, you can't monitor what your kid does 24/7. In fact, that is unhealthy. When you let your kid use a platform like steam, the last thing you think of is that he's going to be trading skins using Steam API to gambling website and betting on matches and gambling with their UI.

That's what Valve has been sued for sucessfully.

Except the lawsuits haven't been large enough to make Valve do anything besides some cease and desist letters from 2016.

They knowingly allow it. They profit from it. Kids are now suffereing from gambling addiction before turning 18.

They can't gamble if they don't have money, and if they choose to spend their own money on that, then they learn a valuable lesson if they lose their money.

"I was 15 when i got hooked on gambling with csgo skins. I spent hundreds of dollars on steam cards for keys and eventually skins. Found out about CSGO Jackpot and started gambling. It was an absolute thrill. My inventory was worth close to $30k at one point before I gambled nearly all of it away. I ended up selling my last couple skins including my minimal wear Dragon Lore and leaving the game entirely. I did come out of it slightly positive but after the insane highs and the depressing lows, it was far too emotionally taxing. I will never buy skins again and won't gamble anything I don't mind losing."

And if you didn't monitor them 24/7, they might have done things that you're not aware of.

Not liking people with a different opinion isn't attacking you. I mean i've asked you for an example of one of the claims and you refused to provide one.

I've also pointed out as have others that parents have the responsibility to parent. Steam can't stop your kids from gambling anymore then they can stop them from buying scratch off tickets, drugs, or wasting all their money buying pokemon cards or anything else they can spend money on.

As parents we have the capability to monitor what our kids do, even if we aren't around. Its just doing so requires more work then some are willing to do.

Kids can't open a bank account, so parents have full access to their financials and can track what they are spending money on until they become an adult

Yep, anyone can become addicted, but there is only so much any company can do. People can be addicted to food, that doesn't mean grocery stores need to start monitoring how much food you eat or telling people that they have bought too much red meat this month and its not good for them to eat that much and refuse to sell them a steak....

Unfortunately we live in a generation where people don't want to assume responsibility for anything, even their own actions and they look for others to take the blame and do it for them.

Right but then again, companies cannot let 13 year olds into a casino to play the slots, if their parent aren't around. 13 is too young to start these accounts. At least 18, other states can cite 21.
