And then run less games? Oh well, to each their own.
Yes, the Legion Go has more raw performance, but not a larger battery, so it doesn't last as long as a SteamDeck when running on full power.
And, shortcomings of struggling to navigate Windows on a handheld aside, I think that's the problem with it. All power at the cost of efficiency. You can double the wattage of the Steam Deck, but then you're going to burn through the battery in under an hour. Turn it down to 15 watts, and it roughly matches the Steam Deck at it's highest point. The Deck really shines vs the competition below 15 watts. Playing "Subnautica" at 8-10 watts on the Deck will net you 60 fps. The Legion Go and other devices using that Z1 extreme APU will barely push 20 fps. Meanwhile you'll be enjoying something like 9 hours of battery life on a Deck OLED.
The Deck is the Gameboy while the Legion Go is a Gamegear. One of those was unquestionably more powerful with a full color display, but the former absolutely destroyed the latter. The GG got about 3-4 hours of battery on six AA batteries. The Gameboy Pocket got about 10 hours of battery on two AAA batteries. (Nevermind that the Deck kind of resembles a Sega Game Gear, with it's wide black chassis.)
For me, the Deck is a portable handheld, so I don't need nor really want megawatt power. I just need it to play the games I want to play well enough with decent battery life on the go. I have a decent gaming desktop if I want more juice.
Well, ♥♥♥♥ happens with anything, sometimes people are just unlucky and get a bad unit.

Some of the replies:
"I'm probably going to return mine - I love it a lot, when it works, but it's so janky. I keep losing games because they suddenly won't launch or crash on load, I have weird internet connectivity issues, none of the desktop features work properly (for example, no browsers work right they frequently crash, can't update, or won't run certain websites that work fine on the same browser on my husband's windows PC) and I just can't take it anymore. I'm so disappointed I loved it so much but the stress and misery of having something that only works half the time is too much."
"Countless issues with mine too. This thing needed more time in the oven.
Edit: I returned the original and bought a second one and still have just as many QC issues just different ones now."
"I'm dealing with all of that and more. I'm currently on my 2nd RMA = 3rd steamdeck. Or rather it will be shipped to me any day now. I want out of this loop that valve has gotten me in to. They obviosly won't refund cause it's past the 14 days but they've literally wasted months of my life tinkering with their stupid device."
My first steam deck power button broke and it would get into the 90’s playing games. There are faulty products everywhere but it didn’t stop me from getting a replacement which has been flawless for over a year and a half.
I often forget about battery efficiency as I never use them as portables. I use them as desktop replacements so I don’t have to sit in a chair to play games. They never leave the house or my bedside.
Honestly just build your own pc. There’s countless videos if you don’t know how to. It will be cheaper and you will learn from it.
If you can use a screw driver and know how to insert NES cartridges you can build a pc.
But I also still love my Deck, and I'll never get rid of it... Prob buy the upgrade whenever we see one.
My use case is easy... GO is for higher end games and remote streaming, Deck is for indie games. And I still play the Deck more. But I do love my GO. Then again, I also own a PS Portal, and about 6 Ayn/Anbernic/PowKiddy specifically for certain system emulation, so 🤷♂️😅
