scammed through FACEIT
Someone please help me, someone on FaceIt asked me to join their team for a tournament and told me I can't have skins in my account to qualify for the tournament. So I had to send them to a trusted friend which I did and then re-apply on face it. They told me I can cancel the trade once I get the confirmation that I'm in the tournament (Rule 3:Rewards), and once I tried that it wouldn't cancel and then told me I sent them all to my friend. So I went to my history to cancel it and it shows that I sent them to a complete stranger. This person said "dont panic, i just showed you how scam works on faceit in 2023. im content maker for youtube, you get all your items back in a week(because of the trade ban)" and I'm freaking out right now. I sent 77 items thinking due to Rule 3 in FaceIt tournaments I can't have active skins. I don't know how to get them all back and I really need help. I've already reported the scammer's steam account.

It is a scam, and worst thing, your items are gone.

And at NO point you asked yourself "WTF am I doing?"
You won't get anything back, but you can secure your account.

It baffles me every time how gullible some people can be.
Follow the steps above.

I never responded to randoms I didn’t know but this was through FaceIt which is an anticheat for gaming. People talk on their for teams so I thought this was legitimate. Now I’m out hundreds of dollars from losing 77 items… I can’t believe it honestly. I genuinely can’t believe this happened. I’m so upset. And the link they sent was to a FaceIt Tournament, I don’t know how they managed to access my account from that…

You really should educate yourself on phishing.

The link was a malicious phishing link designed to hijack your account. The scammers then baited you into making a trade whilst your account was compromised so they could essentially intercept and steal your items.

They got you good but at the end of the day, this is still a very old and common scam. Never click on random links or perform account instructions set by strangers.

I had no idea about this. I tried canceling the trade immediately but it didn’t work… went to msg my friend I tried to send them to to ask him not to accept the trade and if he got them to just send them back. But when I went to trade history it showed a different name whom I sent them to… Even if I didn’t get everything back there were some things in there that i really wanted to keep.

Sorry this happened to you, it sucks. But you're wiser now, take this as a hard lesson. We all make mistakes from time to time, part of being human.

It really pays to learn about these scams and to make sure your steam account is secure. Did you follow the steps to secure your account?

The scammers were able to impersonate your intended target. The original trade should show as cancelled and this action was done by the scammers. They then resubmitted another trade offer to the account then impersonating and you accepted that trade instead.
Hey just wanted to say that same thing happened to me and lost 11 pages worth of items worth well over 1k. I also can’t believe i was so gullible but they told good lies. I never thought that by trading items to my friend can somehow be intercepted. Steam responded that they literally cant help me. I played this game for a very long time and i dont think i can pull myself together to continue playing this game.

Never use your steam login outside of steam. Anything that wants it is almost always 99%+ of the time, a complete scam.
