It baffles me every time how gullible some people can be.
Follow the steps above.
What a helpful comment!
I never responded to randoms I didn’t know but this was through FaceIt which is an anticheat for gaming. People talk on their for teams so I thought this was legitimate. Now I’m out hundreds of dollars from losing 77 items… I can’t believe it honestly. I genuinely can’t believe this happened. I’m so upset. And the link they sent was to a FaceIt Tournament, I don’t know how they managed to access my account from that…
You were already told what to do.
Scam: Join a Tournament
They got you good but at the end of the day, this is still a very old and common scam. Never click on random links or perform account instructions set by strangers.
fml i wish i knew… can’t sleep bc of this i’m so upset
I had no idea about this. I tried canceling the trade immediately but it didn’t work… went to msg my friend I tried to send them to to ask him not to accept the trade and if he got them to just send them back. But when I went to trade history it showed a different name whom I sent them to… Even if I didn’t get everything back there were some things in there that i really wanted to keep.
Sorry this happened to you, it sucks. But you're wiser now, take this as a hard lesson. We all make mistakes from time to time, part of being human.
It really pays to learn about these scams and to make sure your steam account is secure. Did you follow the steps to secure your account?
