Immediatley fire whichever Dev is responsible for foisting "Year in Review" badge upon us.

I've come across a few threads that were suspiciously closed for 'devolving into arguments' so anyone who come to this thread and tries to justify this asinine and senseless decision by Valve will be permanently blocked and ignored. Apparently Steam Moderators are unwilling to host debates here for whatever reason. Always re-assuring to see a "moderator" with a 1 year old Steam account shutting down comment threads critical of Steam.. totally re-assuring..

After avoiding clicking the damn "year in review" button that has infested my Steam Menu for months, today the application registered that I had clicked on it (when attempting to click my Inventory from the drop down menu).. immediately defacing my profile by putting this ugly badge on display that I did and do not want in any way, shape or form - removing one I did want in the process..

The fact that after years this 'working as intended' 'feature' is still causing Steam Users grief is beyond unacceptable. Whoever is responsible deserves immediate termination from Valve.

There is no way to dismiss this 'steam in review' plague that does not result in the hideous badge defacing your profile (and pushing aside one of the badges you actually wanted displayed and intentionally crafted)..

If left unchanged, this broken mechanic necessitates the ability to 'hide' badges that we do not want displayed from being displayed on our profile; keeping this system in place greatly disturbs my faith in Valve's decision making processes and ability to respect their customers most basic wishes and desires.

Let me be very clear; this badge defacing my profile without my consent does not convince me to craft more badges to replace it.

Conversely; it has made me decide I will never craft another badge unless this malicious mechanic is removed or otherwise mitigated.

If this topic does not interest or effect you simply move on to prevent being blocked and berated for attempting to derail the discussion.

lol just read the part where you said you will never craft another badge. Quite the irony considering that's the only way you will get the year in review badge off of your profile.

Also, as has been said in all of these other threads about this, that section on your profile with the four badges? It's not meant to be aesthetic. It's for your four most recently crafted badges.

You can't push some off, I have the community badge and game number permanently there taking up 2 spaces, and the gold community one is really ugly. I don't mind the number count up at the front like you have in your profile, but a big yellow glowing circle is awful.

Yes you can? Those community badges have been removed from profiles for quite some time. Do you see the year in review badge on my profile? No, that's because it was pushed off by the other badges. I don't know what you're doing but you're doing it wrong.

Loved the "stealth" transphobia that was directed towards me that the mods did nothing about as well.

I doubt they are defending him, its more likely they are waiting till they lock the topic to bahammer the OP. Threats of any kind are not acceptable but the mods can be real cheeky when they punish the wrong doer after some time just so they have more proof to not revolk the ban lol

If you can't push them off then where the bloody hell are they on my profile, they were there. So, I guess someone is telling pork pies...

I think I was wrong about the game count one, but maybe it gets pushed to the front every time you add a game to your account? I remember those red badges being stuck as well, but I don't see them anymore.

Did you finish the community badge? Maybe only the gold version sticks until you get it maxed.

so seems to be no problem if you do every task only. guess it's a feature by them nagging you to do them. There is a reddit thread about the red community awards too.

curious you talk about debates and yet you are threatening to block users because they have their own points of view which adds to a constructive debate you don't agree with. if you aren't serious about having such a discussion? go block yourself silly hypocrite.

What Steam really needs to do is implement a system that allows users the option to CHOOSE if they want to receive a reward. Just give people a little popup stating "You' received a sticker / award / badge / whatever" and allow them to go to a Community Rewards area to claim it or refuse it.

-> The OP purposely tried to avoid clicking the Review stuff because they didn't want the badge.

-> I didn't participate in voting for the Steam Awards a few months back because I didn't want to have 12 stickers that I had no interest in permanently stuck in my inventory.

-> There are people who despise getting Jester awards and would probably like to refuse them (though many more people seem intent on trolling intentionally to farm for them).

I'm sure there are others who have similar pet peeves related to unwanted items in their profile or inventory. It seems like the practical solution would be to allow users the choice to receive those items.
