Why was my official Shantae avatar that was officially put on the Steam store banned for being "inappropriate"?
I don't understand the logic of allowing official avatars from games that are considered inappropriate when they go against Community Rules and Guidelines? Who is running Steam? This is completely ridiculous to bait users of Steam with OFFICIAL avatars that they can't even use! Now I am banned from changing my avatar for 6 days!

Open a ticket and submit that the avatar removal was incorrectly done. They'll fix it in a day or so, and remove the ban as well.

I read Betty Boop was also affected by the National Legion of Decency.

Doesn't surprise me, since history repeats itself, even the Oompa Loompas were changed due to the actual book versions being seen as offensive in the 1970s for the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory adaptation and we didn't get an accurate portrayal of them until Tim Burton's adaptation of the book. Roald Dahl hated the 70s adaptation too. And nowadays he's hated by a loud vocal minority of sensitive people on Twitter so nothing has changed per usual. (BTW Tim Burton's movie is way better than the Mel Stuart one)

Also the new Wonka movie sucks, and just like the Mel Stuart one is lacking all the depth and they brought back the inaccurate awful clown design of the Oompa Loompa.

There is some merit to it I suppose. Violence and sex sells easily. And Hollywood accepted the production code the National Legion of Decency published back in the day, because it held production studios to uphold a higher artistic standard.

We seriously need more sex appeal these days, Sweet Baby Inc. is uglifying the women, as well as turning them into unbearable Mary Sue characters, just look at the downgrade of Mary Jane in Spider-Man 1 and compare it to Spider-Man 2 and well, the ugly step-sister from Shrek is the star of the awful Fable reboot. They did the attractive face model for the character dirty. No wonder Sony panicked and published Stellar Blade to save their dying PS5 brand after flop after flop on that system. Good thing for the Japanese and Korean developers keeping the gaming industry from collapsing because its a sad state of affairs now in the West. Also Naughty Dog are a joke so remade TLOUP1 and P2 and over-charged those over-rated uninspired zombie games for $100/70 just so their army of PS fanboys will buy it digitally and physically to artifically inflate the amount of games sold, same with Spider-Man 2.

Just open a steam ticket and appeal it.

They do have a way. Hell, I can go to your profile and see that your avatar is purchased on Steam, and I am just a standard user.

Still have not gotten a response so I am opening another ticket.
Don't spam them, or you will get blocked. Also, don't expect a response until Tuesday. Support tends to work Monday through Friday, and Monday is a US holiday.

I had no intention of spamming. It was just incase the first ticket didn't actually go through and was glitched. I got unbanned.

It's likely that moderation is outsourced and they don't have a clue about this.
Not just likely, but known. Support and the paid moderation are outsourced to two companies, with Support largely from what I've gathered.

Support is largely okish, but the paid moderation is terrible at best. They process reports without looking at context and just do it quickly, it seems. Likely quota's to fill.

People keep saying that, but I've never heard anyone even guess as to which company it's outsourced to. And Valve has customer support listed as a job they directly hire people for on their website.

Also, every single support ticket I've submitted as a game developer has been replied to by an actual Valve employee with a name I recognize. So either they have two different groups directly accessing the same support ticket system with admin access or both sides of Steam Support are handled by employees of Valve.
