Troll successfully "played innocent" and got me temp banned.
Basically I made a rant post on the forum because i was annoyed with it's game's autosave system and a troll replies "Are you okay"

now anyone who would just look at this would go: "Oh, they're just concerned". DO NOT be fooled, this is a classic troll tactic called "False concern" to lure the user into a false sense of security before they drop the "troll punchline" and reveal they were trolling you all along and laugh at how gullible you were.

The reasons for this are:

1. This is the internet, unless the person personally knows you, they have ZERO REASON to be concerned for you.

2. Trolls love to use mindgames to screw with their victims.

Well, me in my irritated state of mind impulse replied with "Are you done being a troll yet?" forgetting that this "play innocent" tactic has one other way to troll you. They can "continue to play innocent" and report you to get you banned or temp banned and then laugh it up all the way to their Doritos covered chair.

So i got temp banned because I got trolled. Why are forum mods so gullible at times? It's nothing against them, its just like "use your brain man, this user is obviously trolling if you think about it and trying to get them banned for the luls"

Not entirely sure how i broke the rules tbh, I've seen people get temp banned for far worse than what i said, i've also seen far worse posted on the forums go without a single ban so my best guess is the troll in question gave a "sob story" in their report that made the mod feel what i said was worse than it was. Either that or it was one of the mod's alt accounts who was trolling and found a victim to screw with. Probably the former rather than the latter.

Your ability to ignore your own actions and invent stories of users manipulating both you and the moderators like puppets might sounds like a slam dunk to you, but it's a little silly from where I sit.

In your OP you clearly attacked the other person in a fit of anger. In another post you proudly claim you like to troll the trolls. You're definitely proving the adage, "everyone is the hero of their own story". But doesn't seem you appreciate it when other people don't recognize your heroics.

From where I sit if you worry about yourself a little more, and worry a little less about conspiracies involving super villain trolls and clueless easily manipulated moderators you might be better off.

Behave yourself. No excuses. Fewer problems.

And yet I disprove that adage. I'm not the hero of my own story. There is no hero in my tale. I'm the villain. :slimetabby:
better to be the villain that lives, then the hero that is martyred

In this instance, show me where he "lived"

?

His account was banned because he took the bait. He could have just reported the account for baiting. He didn't. He retaliated.

Well, I missed the part where my comment was directed at you. You'll have to forgive me if I take your antics with a grain of salt though, because I tend to think someone being a contrarian doesn't make them a reliable narrator.

I don't even get the privilege of being the narrator of my own tale. :SpadeSmug:

welcome to steams forum gimmicks, now you can fight back by doing what they do, knowing that you will get attacked by a system that makes bad choices and believe in group bulling reports to identify its problems.

as you can tell this thread is overrun with several "grouped" together individuals who harass others on the steam forums. be aware that they are simply low life nobodies trying to feel important by infringing upon your social forum use.

they will eventually get identified by steam as the bullying and report spamming individuals they are, and ultimately the users will take back the steam forums away from the steam narrative.

when it happens expect the steam forums to shut down, as steam already wastes to much time an resources on the forums that are questionably empty of real users and are out weighted by steams own narrative accounts then the truthful declarations of customers.

You and your conspiracies, behave yaself. :spazwinky:

PFFFFT! If I were the "hero" they would of been banned, not me. I'm not so delusional as to think i'm above the "rules" but when the "rules" are bent/enforced on the whims on mods its hard to tell what they will temp ban you for and what they won't. I called out a troll and they played dumb and found a mod who decided to be "captain hero of the forums" who decided to "strictly" enforce the no insults rule when I've seen people call each other trolls countless times with no ban.
You do think you are above the rules. You called another user a troll and still think that it's ok.

The funnier thing is, you don't even realize that that person may not have been the person who reported your post. If it was another user who reported it, what then?

Then they need to stop being mr or miss white knight of the forums, we have enough drama to deal with online already, don't need some keyboard warrior reporting anyone they think "needs to be spanked because they broke a rule" that everyone breaks all the time on these forums.

Also, don't villainize me. I barely broke a rule to begin with and a rule that is rarely enforced under this context at that. If you wish to "defend the forum rules" do it in another thread, I really have no interest in dealing with someone who views rules as "black and white" instead of the grey area most people fall into when "breaking them".

Not to meation the fact that as i said before, I'm so so delusional as to believe i'm above the rules. It's not like I have an alt mod account to unban my account the moment another mod bans me or ban anyone who I baited into breaking a rule in some obscure way to justify my "troll ban" like many mods who troll on alt accounts do. Not saying any on steam forums do but I have my suspicions.

That said, I'm made to wonder if my ban was legit or not. I'll get back to you on that once i look up the steam forum rules, I'd bet my account what i said falls into a broad spectrum with no specified wording giving said mod the "justification" to temp ban me because they sited in a specific context of their choosing.
What you need to do is stop telling others what they should or shouldn't report. You also need to drop this because you already said before that you knew you should have reported it but you were being "an idiot and not thinking clearly"

Those are your words, not mine. It's a temporary ban. Move on and don't fall for the bait again.

Don't villanize you? You fell for the bait. That's your fault.

Be respectful of yourself and other players
Interactions with other players should not be abusive, disparaging, or inflammatory, nor create an environment that is unwelcoming.

Examples of disrespectful content include:
Insults or harassment
Threats or encouragement of harm
Trolling or baiting arguments
Discrimination
Bypassing word or content filters
Public accusations towards others

I'd be careful betting your account, because calling someone a troll is an insult.

I hate it when I'm right:

I got temp banned based on the context of the mod's choosing as i suspected...

And yes, you are right, I was an idiot and took the bait but this conversation got me wondering if a mod decided to be "captain hero of the forums" and strictly enforce a rule within this context that most mods just ignore and i was right.

Edit: damn you beat me to it.

Keep daydreaming on what you think happened as to how the ban was enforced. However, your unwillingness to accept responsibility for your actions and even admitting that you shouldn't have took the bait, but still thinking that you were the victim only means that there is a good chance that this will happen again. So be prepared.

I'm out.

Do me a favor: Search the term "troll" on any steam game forum and I'd guarantee you'll find plenty of people throwing the "you're a troll" term around and ARE NOT banned.

If you tell me you didn't find any, I know you're lying because I already did and found 10 pages worth of results on 12 different game forums.

Okay. I'll bite one more time, this is the last. Do me a favor and think for a minute at what point should you have stopped and not even made this thread and contact support and contest the ban?

You do know that you can link to threads in your support ticket to where people have use#d the term as you say?

At some point, you're going to have to come to terms and realize creating this topic was completely and utterly pointless.

Now, I'm out. I won't reply again. Regardless of what other things you try to come up with to try to make it look like you did nothing wrong.
