All Newer Games Crashing on Startup 4090 14900k ddr5
I recently updated my PC and haven't been able to play any games since installing but have tried all troubleshooting steps I could find. Uninstalled and Reinstalled Drivers, verify game integrity, adjusted settings, cleared caches, open as administrator but nothing works, games crash 1-5 minutes in, even at home screen. Does anyone have any advice or fixes I can try?

I did notice after every crash the two spikes are CPU temp at 68 degrees and watts at 108w, that seems to be where things are at when games crash but I'm probably not looking at everything.

Do you mean you updated your OS from 10 to 11?

...... I tell you this only as a courtesy and not as a solution since this looks real bad .....
dism
sfc
clear pagefile
sandbox mode
eventvwr
gamemode
ipconfig
update windows store
cleanmgr
stop everything tiled/search on taskbar start
Manual Update Driver for GPU by going to control panel and going to support and just clean install driver.
REBOOT.
And then there is always go through troubleshoot from startup pressing f8 f9 f1 f2 or del.

Monthly reset router and speak with isp representative might do some good.

go back to windows 10 op trust me it will solve all your problems, windows 10 version 22H2 or later is enough to support your setup

I tried to reinstall windows 11 Pro 1 more time and same problem, so I installed windows 10, did all updates and unfortunately still same problem, can't even get past the cyberpunk loading screen.

use HWiNFO, run it, play games, check temperatures again..

if your CPU throttles due to heat, it causes crashes ..

Try running a stress test like furmark or prime95 and see if they also crash.

Because you've tried a fresh install of both 10 and 11, it's unlikely to be a software issue (unless you're installing junkware immediately).

So seeing as it only happens in "newer" titles which are generally more demanding than older ones, my first guess would be an issue with the power delivery to one or more of the components. Perhaps your PSU is faulty or just isn't powerful enough.

Recommended PSU for a 4090 is 850-1000W and on top of that, the 14900K is one of the most power-hungry CPU's out there too.

Memtest.
Do you have multiple sticks of RAM, possibly overclocked?
I.e OC'ing the CPU's memory controller.

hey man ive had a friend run into a similar issue and im wondering if you ever found a fix for this issue?

When you did the upgrade or change, did you uninstalled and reinstalled Steam? If no, do that and see if the issue disappears.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
