Steam Moderators Are Bias
And I don't even know if anything can be done about it, other than the whole matter being swept under the rug.

I was in another community, and started a discussion I remained civil and one user repeatedly insulted me within said forum. I fire back one insult and end up being banned from the community 24hours.

Now I am sure some might think there must be more to this story, but there isn't. I wasn't trolling, I had a reasonable inquiry involving the game, but I was attacked and disrespected and I get a ban for being disrespectful for one profane message back towards them when they use multiple.

I went through the ticket booth. I basically told moderation I didn't care if my ban was removed, I wanted accountability towards the user that harassed and insulted me. They said they would look into it, but nothing.

I sent quotes and quick links in the ticket and you know what they did? They just deleted the forum/chat and then closed the ticket.

All I wanted was accountability, for the user to also be banned from that forum for their disrespectful behavior, but they are still allowed to chat freely within it when no action was taken. I just find it funny how Steam mods waste no time in delivering a 24 hour ban on my end, but give the instigator a slap on the wrist or nothing at all.

This type of favoritism needs to stop. If a user starts a fight, it shouldn't be right for the one they started the fight with to be banned in response. If there are going to be bans, it should be done to both problem users.

I don't even know if anything can be done at this point. Like, seriously what is my approach? Just let the matter go and take it after being verbally abused by a member and then banned when that member isn't punished? When the discussion is covered up and deleted as well?

Like where do I even go from here? Do I open another ticket? Do I contact admins directly? Or just let it go cause Steam Moderation is bias and doesn't treat members equally for their behavior?

Well, i suppose you can tell that to France, or Norway, or the UK, or others dealing with these mass attacks. Be it a gun, or knife, or others. Horrific.

Not as bad as here, but you don't have the amount of guns we have. And so i'm not dismissing guns, but that and social media, seem to be a very costly mix. When it was not say in the 70's and 80's, where there were plenty of guns and crime, but not social media and mass shootings.

And to the extent moderation thinks we may vering off topic, we're really not.

When people feel helpless, and bullied, and have to deal with that circmumstance in school, and come home to deal with it here. Moderation has a responsiblity, to not be a part of the problem, but a part of the solution.
You're right, we aren't dealing with the 70s and 80s. Because during that time, there weren't as many guns in circulation but violent crime was quite a bit higher.

Now, we have way more guns in circulation than we ever have. Yet, violent crime is much lower than it was back then and has only been trending down outside of a small bump during COVID.

Really odd that is.

Oh there was a lot of guns. There was a lot of murders. In fact,. as bad as crime is today, it's nothing as compared to then. Yet, despite even "a" gun, we did not see people going into a school, and shooting it up. Or a mall, or anything of the kind.

The fabric of our society is breaking apart, being people are being fed this garbage, 24/7, do not know right from wrong, parents who are more in tuned to making money, then raising their children, and in their place, Mr Zuckerberg, Mr Nadella, Mr Pichai, Mr Newell, Mr Spencer, Mr Ryan and everyone else, with evidently no care or concern, of what's being uploaded or posted on their applications.
Ah yes, banning social media apps from government devices, definitely that "legislation" that is defending your rights

Actually, there were shootings back then as well.

If none of those platforms cared, they wouldn't have a report system and actively encourage users to report content that breaks the rules. You're also blaming random people for the fault of parents.

It's not even an uncommon thing. Government devices are strict about what they allow on them and for good reason.

It's just funny how some people think that "proves" the apps are causing violence lol

Think maybe their education system is probably more at fault for why their education system is getting shot up

That was being referenced in relation to government regulations on social media.

It was still wrong since it's a regulation on a device and not the website, but it was still an attempt.

Of course i just said there were. Likely even much more. But again, we're talking mass shootings of public places and events, not as crimes of opportunity (gangsterism and other matters very common), but by damaged people, fed this trash, bullied and gone nuts.

Of course, calling someone a "poopie head" is acted on very quickly here at Steam, yet no care or concern, for those bullied, brigaded, or chided, that in turn caused the "poopie head" comment.

We need change. And its slowly, but surely, coming.

Someone should protect these poor Win7 users quick before they shoot up a school.

Edit: This is satire.

I was talking about those shootings as well.

Except, the "change" you want wouldn't solve what your claiming is happening.

If a bunch of people responding to a topic is being "bullied and bigraded" the forums shouldn't exist since that happens to a great majority of posts. It's just a bunch of victimization where there are no victims.

There is no legislation that is even talked about that would do anything to what you're claiming the problem is. All legislation currently being talked about do not include forums in their regulations. Legislation that has been pass has been blocked from being enforced.

He must have reported you that's why you got banned. You should have reported him... He got offended what you said. ;)

There were no mass shootings back then at all compared today. I remember Jonestown, but that was a mass poisoning in Guyana. We didn't have this phenemona. Again, it started in the early 2000's.

As far as legislation, we just got done with Meta changing their terms, being screamed at in the Congress. We're seeing states making moves, slowly yes, but surely.

And its gonna happen dude. We are just one mass attack, from the whole thing morphing into something entirely differerent.
"no mass shootings"

entire "wild west" is romanticized mass shootings lol

You can literally look up[en.m.wikipedia.org] mass shootings from back then. That's how I know there were some.

Again, they aren't removing any content and you can literally just change a setting to see political content on your feeds from accounts you don't already follow. All they changed was just allowing users more control over what comes up.

We aren't considering the last time this exact sentiment was stated was a few "mass attacks" ago.

Well where were they? On a weekly basis we see them today? That link shows individuals. "A kid shot two people. A kid shot his teacher".

There a song by Pearl Jam called "Jeremy" in 1990 about a kid that when into a class, and shot himself. Not the whole class.

You're really pushing the envelope on this.

Added a link to my post.

If we are seeing them on a weekly basis, then that even leads more into how there isn't regulation on social media coming. Considering they just need the next "mass attack" like you boldly claimed.
