Games that has level up by using specific skills
I mean if it's a killing game if you use your knife or sword or gun you level that only up by using it. Far as I know there's only 3 games using this mechanic; correct me if i'm wrong:
- Runescape (you get XP by using that skill, example fishing for fishing XP)
- Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (you get XP in that skill you are using or training) - example you craft a dagger, you get blacksmith XP. You swing your sword, you get swordsman (or whatever it's called) XP. (I think that's how Skyrim works?)
- 7 Days to Die Alpha 15.2 (not later) (example you find a Pistol and use it, you gain levels in Handgun/Pistol skill)

Are there any more games like this? Come with tips? I do love all of the above games, and noticed I love games like this. If my list is wrong correct me.

I don't mean games like you use your bow, you get overall XP, and you are free to put that XP/skill levels for example into shotguns or fishing by XP gained by bow shooting. (just an example)

I hope this is the right forum to post this in.

Warframe kind of fits the bill but you’re levelling equipment rather than skills. Free to play but it’s an utter grindfest.

I tried Warframe but it's so hard to learn. I mean I didn't know what to do even.

What about that game by Blizzard..or no...other company but Blizzard had it on Battlenet launcher.. and then just some time ago the 2nd came out..I forgot the game name?
Is that like Warframe? and like levelling that?

Also that Elder scrolls online game.. do you know if it uses same leveling mechanics as Skyrim?

Also what about Black desert?

Yes it does! I didn't know that, but I am a fan of borderland game series also. Any more games using this system? I feel it's weird not more games use this .. cause like every succesful game use it. (Runescape, Skyrim, 7DTD (pre current version), Warframe you say and now Borderlands. All which are big AAA+ titles aswell.

I'll look up the Blizz game.. sec.
oh yeah it's called Destiny

I'm same with warframe. I installed the game the three times and uninstalled again and again. I play the first mission. I loved it but when i reach the space and i see all those menu after menus. I get overwhelmed by amount of stuff it has and stop playing after that.

Destiny 2 is on steam now.

I really tried, I mean i struggled leaving my spaceship. But I get overwhelmed about it. So I just exit. I dont know where to begin. Last time I played i went out to some planet it suggested me and i ended up in a market place and still stuck, and started a mission I just walked and walked and walked and never lead me anywhere.

Does Destiny 2 have leveling up mechanics like I ask for in this topic?

I haven't played Elder Scrolls Online. I meant the older games in the franchise: Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion.

A completely different Genre, but skill systems in Stardew Valley and in the Sims games work that way, too.

It is still the same in Sims 4. Whily you do not have levels, your skills do.

Yeah, it's surprising that it is considered to be perfectly fine to kill stuff with your sword over and over and over again, and after some time of doing that you can improve your fireball.

Flyff even had a "level skills by using them" -- until they removed it, and replaced it with a generic skillpoint system.
