The Jester award is not an insult, but a compliment
Always love when people give me one, like "you're such a dumbass, here's some free points, xp and a cutely animated clown for your stupidity" and I always embrace it.

Valve should of made it like an ugly, stagnant stick drawing that gave zero points if they wanted it to be an actual insult for bad opinions.

Pretty much. I always take it as a badge of honor when i get one, means there is some truth to what i said and it gotten under someone´s skin.

Agreed, I see it as a badge of honor. It's an admission of defeat on the part of the giver and as bonus they give you some points as victory treasure.

:rl2shrug: Some people are very serious.
Its used more like an insult because they don't have other option:steamthumbsdown:

Awards are whatever you want them to be. If you want to attach malice and negative intent to them, no one can stop you. People who are convinced they're being insulted, or are quick to feel insulted aren't going to be convinced by some randos contrary opinion. They're going to double down and pitch a fit often.

depends what you mean and how you mean by serious. one could be so serious about not being serious it's not even funny.

:DK_Cat: Huh? How is “some people are very serious” dependent on any of that?”

 Regardless, it was fun wordplay.

I'm glad to get the points just so I can award other people with them.
If I have to look like a fool, fine by me. Lol

I too always love getting one. It's the most adorable one out of all the awards.

Maybe, just maybe, this one wasn't intended as an insult to begin with. Maybe, just maybe, 'tis certain community members that insist on regarding this as one.

That's why I don't give out jester awards, but you can be the clown captain.

Naaah , its an insult everyday allday.
Stingray_tm 3. dec. 2023 kl. 6:37
Very obviously Valve should and will not incentivise insults and toxic behaviour.

if somebody wants to "insult" me with an award, I simply say: "Thank you for giving me money.", which essentially is the case here. You bought points with your money and now you are giving them to me, which allows me to buy stuff in the points store.
