oh poor main demographic , coughing up a solid 70 must be such a burden for you, so totally relatable to my third world having ass 🙄
hell no their sales prices should be the default price, i'm just getting it from some where else like most of my steam purchase. these are just video games no need for me to put them on a pedestal and uselessly give money for some thing that is not worth what publisher think is an accessible rate. Even 1 dollar in my region can buy you a whole ass dinner
I think it is you that doesn't understand. If the majority are willing to pay the set price then that is the price that will be established.
right now it's unfair pricing meaning it results in them earning less on a world wide product, like most typical japanese publishers they keep their prices high cause they don't understand slash care how the market works. What you are describing is the same mentality as trying to open your own store and only selling there, no matter how good your game is (which it isn't ever) you are selling at lower profit margins.
There is other stuff too but i don't want to waste anymore time on spammers and kids who don't know what they are talking about.
1. Demand
2. Supply (which is where margins play into)
#2 is literally meaningless for a video game where creating another copy is a zero-cost operation. Whether you sell 1 copy, 2 or a couple millions, you still got the same production costs. #1 is what remains as the main driving force. As long as there is demand, that is, as long as people keep buying your games for that price, there's no reason to go down with the price.
... well, there's also a third factor called "regulation" which doesn't really apply to videogames.
ah, you are right
fromsoftware used to be more about the gamer, in older times, now , it is about the profit.
the game is still good, the engine is crisp and well designed.
but the price.. yeah... its a little much.
i think that it makes more sense to sell a lot of copies at a lower price, than just a few copies at a higher price.
too bad im late to the thread, i was a fanatical fromsoft fan from chrome hounds back in the day. its really unfortunate they didn't decide to advance technology and remaster the game, or even add functionality to it. it was a lot of fun playing the three faction pvpve war, and designing your own hound for combat, and abusing the saturation mechanics lol.
well in my region the deluxe edition and dark souls 1 were discounted pretty fairly before ER cause the main price was lower but now ♥♥♥♥ it's like they think of themselves as the gospel of gaming. only reason i didn't buy it back then was cause i thought i let it go even lower and of course i just bought 1,2 and 3 on xbox and then BAM this all happened. heck for you western guys it was 15 dollars deluxe edition on sale. God i hate elden ring, it screwed up the souls formula like dark crud 2 and now the availability.
the price tag for Video Games that Companies keep dishing out...
Companies are just going to keep raising the Prices to whatever they feel like...
They only care about money in the End & don't even care about the Customer...
So why would anything change if People just keep letting them get richer, & richer?
The only way to blockade them, is by massive events in boycott,
or by simply handling the situation at your Government Level...
Lawsuits won't do you any good...
Good Luck!!!
PS: It all comes down to the Stupidity of the Customer,
I'm not joking about that, because that is what it comes down to...
If your openly willing to throw money at a Developer of
which delivers you a half baked broken piece of junk...
That is a you problem, & that is what I mean by Stupidity of the Customer...
