Steam autumn sale
Has to be the worst sale ever done. The prices are no better than a usual sale. Steam sales used to be a great awesome sale especially digital games where you don't have to pay for shipping and packaging. DO BETTER VALVE/STEAM

You do understand that Steam/Valve only host the sales. The game developers/publishers are the ones who set the prices, not Steam.

Devs/pubs set the prices and discounts for their products.

And most just wait until the Winter event that's weeks away.

how do people still think this. valve is just the platform. they legit do nothing but servers and thats it. people are even getting mad they still do a 30% cut now a days since they don't do anything for gaming plus they have a monopoly too so they legit get free money for no effort.

Are you aware of the situation of the economy in the real world?

Until the next one and the one after that... OP, if you keep buying games, there will be fewer left that interest you. Also, you are getting jaded with age, most people do.

And we have this sale thread. Another tradition fulfilled.

Indeed. End of year is a pretty intensive sales period and for the most part devs save their best hits for the winter sale, which is the biggest event.

But fear not, that sale will also be 'the worst sale ever'.

The more games you have the harder it is to find good deals, so every new sale is worse than the previous
SPG 27 NOV 2023 a las 9:45 a. m.
The only difference with the traditional sale events and the rest of the year sales is that there are a larger number of games on sale at the same time. Other than that, the prices are no different than they are during a featured sale at any time during the year . That's why these events are no longer anything special.

You can pretty much get any game at the same discount by scouring other sites throughout the year. Publisher/distributors cycle them on sale on all the sites. One week it will be here, the next somewhere else, and the next somewhere else.

In fact, I did price matches this year with a number of sites and Steam was almost always higher by a few cents to a few dollars. So, I bought my games elsewhere and added the keys to Steam. Games used to have a little better discount during storewide sale "events", but that hasn't been the case for a number of years.

I, of course, can't speak for all 5000 games on Steam, but it has proven to be true for my 150 game wishlist.

There are over 86k titles on Steam.

This is actually just a tired argument. Although it's true that steam does not set the prices, there was a time in the past when they were just growing that they would actively advocate for better pricing during their events. it would not be unusual to see 75-80% off legitimate base prices. Whether they would forego some of their profit or convince pubs/devs to do the same, the result was great bargains for the consumers.

Then came a time when Steam grew so big, they stopped trying. Other sites were getting mad at them and there were articles about it. So, Steam shifted course and were so big by this time that they could afford not to bother anymore.

The lack of sale-specific trading cards is a genuine bummer, however.

What was "suggested" in the past has nothing to do with the present...

Partners on Steam are responsible for setting and managing pricing for their products.

Developers on Steam have control over their own prices, in every currency.

Those are only for Summer and Winter.
