Used game prices
Picked up 5 AAA games under 3 years old at a local Gamestop/Cex store for $20/£15. Steam price would be $150/£110.

If the topic is: "HEY I SAVED MONEY"

Well, I managed to get a SoundBlaster 16 and one AWE64 for about 2$ each... Usually sold ~60 to 80 dollars each on ebay when in good condition.

As you ( I hope) may read, it is not.

It's a public thread in a public discussion forum. Thermal is discussing, in the form of questioning, the purpose of this thread. I'm also curious: You've made a statement about used game prices on walled platforms in comparison to new game prices on a storefront that does not (and by merit cannot) sell used games. What is the purpose of your statement?
What are "walled platforms "?

I think he's refering to a store. As in walled in. Or something along those lines. Kinda confuses me too.

But, wait a min. Are you suggesting the prices are too high on Steam? If so, do as Slow Mango said and bring that up to the publisher. Not much else to say really.
Except they weren't PC games.
You can often get new physical console games cheaper within 3 years of sales.

Also console games are usually tied to consoles and their lifespans are shorter than Steam accounts.

There are people with 20 year old Steam accounts that can still play those games.

Judging by the replies, this whole thread looks like b8.

Walled Platforms, in this context, are platforms that have significant access and manipulation restrictions in place to hinder manipulation and duplication of software, as well as installation, activation, and access restrictions. In other words: Consoles, in relevant context. Being a walled platform is part of the reason second hand physical media sales ("used" games) are even possible.

You purchased used games at a physical store. Steam does not sale used games so you can not compare the 2.

Nope, conolse games are not tied to the "console". Do you gamers not own games? i.e. Atari, NES, SEGA, Gameboy, SNES, N64?? Heck, I have bins full of cartridges.

Postscript: I also have ton of PC DVD/CD games.

Panderverse somewhere else.

2nd Postscript. I have tons on DRM free games on HDD.

Many PC games that are on CD/DVD have DRM and even if they are DRM Free may not run on modern PCs with modern Operating systems.
Did you just create this topic so that you can argue with who every replies? You can not compare Steam with any physical store that sell used games. Like everyone has said that must stores nowadays do not even sale PC games, except maybe Wal-mart, but those are new. Steam does not sell or trade used games.

I appricate the post, but there is always a way. Emulation, dual boot, Wine, DosBox, retro pc. etc etc. You know modern hardware emulates a voodoo 5500 glide and so on. Options are limitless.

Who is arguing? Buy DRM free once, do with it as you please...??

Most games will run after some AHEM, patching.

The real problem starts when you go for games that were released during the GPU farwest era. Yet, even then, stuff like nglide/dgvoodoo and stuff like that covers most of it.
