Discord Scam?

To make a long story short i get a random DM saying that a person reported my steam account and that it was a mistake and that if i didnt plead my case to some one on discord that my account would be band and deleted.

all I need to hear to know it's a scam.

no one will ever message you on dicord to say you are banned... also top tip the tax man will never call you to tell your you're being investigated for tax fraud.

all these things that tell you someone is suspecting you of something are just preying on you... if they suspected you of something they'd either ban you or ghost you.

do not pick up those calls and above all else DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY ACCOUNT INFORMATION!(be it bank, social, or steam.)

Or at least don't link your Steam account to Discord and don't put your Discord info on your Steam profile. That would be a good start.

imo steam should just pin "we never communicate via discord, facebook, whatsapp, or other messaging service".

Quite extreme. As long as you don't go into some random server discord is a very useful tool.

Just like any place on the Internet: if you are reported, you do not contact support/staff before they contact you about a report. Also if it was by mistake, you have nothing to worry about and nothing to do.
