can't launch fortnite through steam

i want to play fortnite with controller on steam, as epic doesn't have compatibility with the pro controller. i followed all instructions i found online for adding a non-steam game and successfully installed it. but now, when i click "play" on fortnite in my steam library, it loads for 1 second then seems to cancel out the launch and i'm back to square one. any help pls???

Could you not ask where you got the information about adding it to Steam since it is not on Steam to begin with?

Doesnt Fortnight use the Epic launcher?

You have to add the Epic Games launcher as a non steam game in your library then launch it from steam. Then you go in your library and launch fortnite. Steam will recognize the controller and you'll be able to use it in Fortnite. That's how I did it.
