Banned names
Just wondering- are there any banned names? This question stems directly from cs go, where i've seen people using Jossif Stalin's name- and that character is times worse than say Adolf Hitler was (meaning IF hitler is banned name, then so should be stalin). so theoretically- could someone name themselves hitler? Or what about profanities?

I don't think it lets you put Admin or Valve in your name, because of people trying to scam by posing as Valve staff.
You're not allowed to use the words "Valve" or "support" in your name iirc.

I think most of the rules here could apply to names: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4045-USHJ-3810

There is a very good reason. Pick something else.

Please stop the "Offended" safe space crap. If people want to put an offensive name who are you to tell them no. I'm just so sick of the Internet going from the last frontier of true freedom-- to this SJW sensitive/feelings hurt safe space. People need their ideas challeneged, not sheltered from them.

Valve are the ones telling them no, the people who own this website. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4045-USHJ-3810

If people disagree then fine, just be aware what the rules currently are.

Just read that, I see nothing in that Article that would change my statement.

These guidelines apply to all places in the Steam Store and Community where users can post content. This includes, but is not limited to, discussions, comments, guides, product reviews, screenshots, artwork, videos, tags, Steam Workshop, and Steam Greenlight.

Do not post any topics/replies containing the following:

Porn, inappropriate or offensive content, warez or leaked content or anything else not safe for work

You can also select "Offensive Profile or Avatar" as an option when reporting people.

Interesting indeed, I'd actually like to see what passes as "Offensive" in a report. I think we're mainly coving Pornography/nudity or profiles that are linking to such material (Warez, Pornography, Terrorist Organizations, etc).

Please don't think I'm being rude, I'm just simply trying to protect my freedoms and attack this trend of internet censorship.

You have none on a private forum. Anything you do here is a privilege.

You're totally right, I'm fully aware of that. But we don't need a bunch of backseat moderation by people who get offended every time they see the name Hitler.
