trading cards when a game gets delisted
So i know when a game is banned from steam, you cant buy or sell them on the market anymore, im not sure how it works for a game that voluntariy is being delisted by the developer. Can these trading cards continue to be sold, or will they also be disallowed from the Market?

They still remain marketable and purchaseable. Two examples I know of:

The original version of Skyrim. It still has the cards on the market and I even got the missing cards I needed earlier this year to complete the badge. Technically, it still exists on the store but is hidden. You need a direct link to the store page if you want to buy it.

Rocket League is different from Skyrim because it was completely removed from the store (voluntarily by the developers, because they moved to Epic Games) and only those who already owned the game can still download and play it through Steam. Its cards are still available on the market.

So yes, in both types of instances the cards still remain.

No, those cards can't be sold on the market, you can trade them for gems, get 1000 of them and you can sell the sack to get some money out of them.

This happens not only to banned games, delisted ones too (when developer ask Steam to stop selling the game)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Incorrect. Go check the market for the two examples I listed.

It seems to be a case by case basis as far as I know. Two games that I contemplated collecting cards for (DiRT Rally & DiRT 4) had the ability to purchase on the community market of their respective card sets revoked upon their delisting.

The original version of Skyrim is still sold and has not been delisted from the store. Just unlisted from store search.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/

But games that are removed by the steam or the developer from sale the cards will no longer be marketable.
Example

Just search Material Girl steam in google to find the game page. The link won't show up here for some reason.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/644570/Material_Girl/
https://steamcommunity.com/market/search?q=Material+Girl

Also feel free to check the cards of the game in my inventory.

Best to get the cards before the game is delisted.

I have a game called "Nadia Was Here" that you can no longer buy on Steam due to the publisher going under.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/436070/Nadia_Was_Here/

While I don't have trading cards for it, because I used them to craft the game's badge, I do have a background and an emoticon :TereShock:. Both of them don't give me the option to sell them anymore, and when I looked up the game on the market all items listed were set to 0.00 due to them being unavailable.

So, in my game's case at least, it does seem that it being delisted made the game's items unsellable.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
